Donald Trump

John Oliver lacks the clout of John Stewart. Stewart would actually get Obama on the show, for example. Chances he does Last Week Tonight?

Well shit of course Obama would go on the Stewart show because he knows he's getting soft balls and a blow job.

I do love Oliver even though I don't agree with everything he has to say. Same with Jon Stewart.

Stewart also had republicans on there also, was just going with 'high ranking politician' rather than democrat.

Yes he did and I'm surprised they would bother going on his show to be ridiculed and shouted down by Stewarts left-wing audience. Oh well.

Oliver does a different format.

Ideologically, I align with Sanders more than any other candidate. That said, he's kind of a pussy, and his unwillingness to attack Hillary cost him his shot at the nomination. Further, the only way I can see us making universal healthcare a thing is if you slash military and public sector pensions. Unfortunately, those are two voting blocs with very high turnout.

Geez, not this again.

The blame game. Wall Street bigwigs and politicians, not the military or public sector, created this. It's a long read, but explains it very well.

For universal healthcare to happen, literally the only way we would be able to afford it is by cutting military spending and pensions. These three categories comprise almost 75% of the entire federal budget.

And yes, the military-industrial complex plays a huge role in how our government wastes money. For example, there's a plant in Lima, Ohio that makes Stryker IFVs. We don't exactly need more Stryker IFVs, but we continue to spend on them because it guarantees jobs to that congressional district. The guys that they elect keep requesting more and more funding to keep this tank plant going, and anyone who suggests that we cut military spending will never get voted into that district. So to get reelected, his platform is to secure jobs and go to congress and vote for more military spending. This happens all over the country. We spend more on our military than the next nine countries combined, and quite frankly, it's a waste.

I must have misses the episode where the audience ridiculed and shouted down a conservative guest

i actually had no idea just how big of an idiot Trump actually was. My god, Trump steaks? And sold them at sharper image? I know he's a douche but I always kind of figured that he probably was a halfway decent businessman but not half as good as he thinks he is. No now I think he's legitimately Retarded with the dumb shit he's tried to do with his name. And then tells a judge in court that he's estimating his net worth based off his "brand" and that it's basically his own estimate and feels perfectly entitled to sue someone who may point out what a load of horseshit that is.

If trump were awesome he'd get Vincent k. McMahon as a running mate

No, Vince would run as a democrat. Then Linda would slap Trump across the face in one of the debates, and Shane-o-mac would appear out of the audience and level trump with a steel chair.

So let's make it clear, I sit just about as in the middle of the political spectrum as one possibly can. This might be a mistake asking but how in God's name could anyone actually vote for Donald Trump? I mean I'm looking for serious points, not the "he talks his mind" bullcrap. The guy is literally insane and is like a South Park character in human form. He literally takes a different stance on an issue depending on the reaction of the crowd. He wants to build a damn wall to keep mexicans out (which no amount of education can help you if you think this shit would ever happen) and wants Muslims to wear special badges akin to Jewish people wearing yellow stars in Germany. He's basically on record on how he wants to bang his daughter. People it seems are voting for the guy because he's a dude who acts and thinks like a 5th grade bully.

I'm fed up at a lot of the government actions as well but I absolutely can't wrap my head around it. While we're at it let's appoint crazy preacher guy to the cabinet as well. It's not a anti-Republican thing, it's a "how can a crazy lunatic be this far" thing.

Answer the fucking question-denial about WHAT? This is all I fucking hear but no one provides any more context that rubbing their hands together and smirking. Is there some huge secret meeting I wasn't invited to?

- Political establishment, elites, and media hate him - which is a great thing assuming you don't trust the way they're currently running things

- Secure border, something many people have wanted for years

- Loudest voice against the TPP

- Not a bible thumper anti-gay type like the rest of the republicans

- Not beholden to people like payday loan companies as is DWS and HRC

- Recognizes China and others are bending over the US through currency manipulations among other things (You cannot sell things in China without jumping through a bunch of hoops)

- Closer to universal healthcare than other republicans

- Was anti-Iraq war in 2003, is generally non-interventionist - wants to stop toppling dictators in the middle east unlike HRC and the rest of the republicans.

- Won't make the whole country's gun laws resemble that of California or NY or CT or one of the others (magazine restrictions, "bullet buttons")

- Believes the government should not profit from student loan interest

- Wants to significantly reduce H1B visas - other candidates want to expand it or say "American workers aren't good enough" (Rubio)

- Not willing to cut Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security like everybody else on the right.

- Large tax breaks for everybody, though the effects are debatable - it's a hell of a lot better than the flat and consumption tax people like Cruz are pushing.

- Will not let unvetted Syrian refugees in, something many folks in Europe are currently yelling about

I disagree with him on global warming and environmental stuff - but you can't have everything. Also disagree with his stance on surveillance and the apple encryption fiasco (But HRC has the same views, so it's a wash)

The guy is literally insane and is like a South Park character in human form.

I want to ask you to stay with me for what I'm about to say. For you to be able to understand anything we try and tell you, you're first going to have to do away with the notion that he's insane. Everything that he's said since announcing the race has been a calculated effort to win the news cycle and obtain maximal media coverage. He has done so extremely effectively as he's spent the least of all candidates, yet he's winning the most votes. This has allowed him to singlehandedly prevent the Bush dynasty from going any further.

Trump has been purposefully obtuse regarding the details of most his policies because he is trying to win the GOP primary, and the majority of GOP voters do not care about details. These people are angry about the direction of the country under Obama, and the most important thing is a change in direction. Trump's extreme views on immigration have tapped into that anger and propelled him to the front of the GOP race. That might be frightening, for you, as an outsider, but I ask you to remember that he will only be a president and that there are two other branches of government with checks and balances to keep him from turning the US into a racist monarchy. I do have to say, it'd be funny to hear him announced as Donald Trump, First of His Name, King of the Andals and the Jersey Shore.

Now that he's got the nomination all but locked up, he's begun to swing back to moderate positions that are out of line with the GOP establishment. In the South Carolina debate, one of the reddest states in the Union, he said that outside of abortion, Planned Parenthood does wonderful things for women. He said that the Bush administration lied about there being weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He called the Iraq War a big, fat mistake. He still won South Carolina, and these positions on these issues are the most responsible thing I've heard from a GOP candidate in years.

You're not doing yourself any favors, and you're motivating silent Trump voters by immediately writing him off as a racist and psycho. By saying shit like "he wants Muslims to wear special badges akin to Jewish people wearing yellow stars in Germany," you're coming off as ignorant to what he's actually said, and I'm inclined to write you off as someone who takes what the media says at face value.

We were driving down the expressway with friends, going to the giant Cabela's store,

There, in large letters written in manure, very concisely spelled out:

That was great. I don't think Trump gets the # of votes needed to win the nomination outright.

His exact words from his own mouth:

"After Trump confirmed that he would set up a database for Muslim-Americans, an NBC reporter asked him point blank: "Is there a difference between requiring Muslims to register and Jews in Nazi Germany?" A clearly annoyed Trump at first refused to respond, but then told the reporter, "You tell me," and walked away."

Please, I'm begging you to tell me how his OWN words directly supporting what I just said somehow isn't right. How is it okay to say something like that and then just back-track, even if that's his plan all along? It's lunacy, and the dude literally does it on a daily basis. You can't just say and insinuate terrible things, apologize and be on merry way.

http://www.snopes.com/donald-trump-muslims-id/

I'll go ahead and even report the counter-argument, which still basically says "although it's exaggerated it hasn't been ruled out". For God's sake man, how can this be okay in anyone's world? It's not about being a bleeding heart, I'm not. It's not about being anti conservative, I'm not either. It's about a guy who says protesters should be roughed up, a guy who won't rule out require a whole minority class of people to register like Jews during the Holocaust, it's about a guy who won't condemn a hate group in the KKK not leading the United States. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here that this is even an option.

Thanks for writing this out btw-I just don't see how you can actually see any of that in the stuff he says on a daily basis. I don't mean that from a ideology standpoint, I mean that from a literal standpoint. I know politicians are liars but he goes so back and forth on everything he says based on the flavor of the week it seems like. I'm not stupid, I understand he is smart dude at his core. But so were a lot of people who ended doing nefarious things in their lives. Stupid =/= crazy sometimes.

Most of that stuff he's really consistent on. Particularly the TPP and trade deals in general and immigration. The things like tax plan he has papers out on his website which are pretty detailed as well.

I think Trump is more calculated - given the fact many GOP primary voters are crazy. The appearance of loud, anti-establishment, strong is what they want - they don't care about the policy details, which is obvious from the fact that most of his policies are further left than his rivals. You will see more of presidential Trump - as he was last night after blowing out super tuesday.

It's Trump v Clinton - and Trump is going to win in November.

It's sad that Dr. Carson didn't get much of a chance at the

circus debates.

I admire him more and more as this process goes on.

Every time I give Rubio a chance, he goes off and acts

like a college freshman guy going to a sorority party

to join it like in some dumb date movie or something.

At least Cruz won't back down on what he says. He's a true believer

in what he promises - he's proven that in Congress.

Rubio is weak on immigration.

Ideally, a brokered convention would replace Trump with Kasich

if Kasich can win Ohio, and overtake Cruz.

Kasich/Carson. I could happily support that.
