THE BROWNS BOARD

Camp Wentz Part Deux

the Browns would be able to rebuild on both sides of the ball, with Philadelphia likely sending Cleveland next year's first rounder in addition to its first- and second-round picks, plus a later selection.

Except the Eagles don't have a pick in the second round, do they?

Well, let's take a looky-look at the wide receivers difference.

One of the strongest positional groups in the Pac-12, the Bears’
receivers were one of the bright spots during a fairly mediocre
2014 season. No receiver broke the 1,000 yard mark, but five wideouts
caught five or more touchdowns.
Juniors Chris Harper, Bryce Treggs, and Trevor Davis were all
outstanding, and were considered to be playmakers before the season
even started. But it was Sophomore Kenny Lawler who stole the show
over the course of the season, amassing over 700 yards receiving
and nine touchdowns.
Overall, the wideout group for the Bears was just another outstanding
group in a pretty outstanding Cal offense. The receivers helped
quarterback Jared Goff, and running back Daniel Lasco, lead a potent
Cal Bear offensive attack that pretty much carried the whole team.
This group looks to continue to grow off their 2014 campaign, in
which they ranked 6th in the NCAA in passing yards per game.

"The Browns were impressed enough that former Davis lieutenant Pete Garcia told Fox Sports Ohio in 2014 the team was "very, very close" to selecting Roethlisberger. But the quarterback was fighting the small-school stigma coming out of Miami (Ohio), which still fuels him today. The stigma was definitely a factor for Cleveland, too. After three seasons and sporadic results under Davis, the Browns wanted a sure bet."

Just going to leave this here for future "I told you so" reference.

If you don't learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it.

I say we jump back into the 1st, at say pick 22, to grab our QB of the future...........

QB needy teams at 19 (bills), 20 (jets), potentially 27 (chiefs) and 28 (cards), and 31 (broncos).

Can't see us trading to 22 based on that, fortunately.

Season six starting next week...my excitement is tempered by it being draft week.

By next week I assume you mean this Sunday...

As for the draft... I feel strangely deflated by this turn of events...

Two picks in the top 32 for 5 out of 6 years?

... and next to nothing to show for it...

I have to laugh to keep from crying...

It physically hurts me to think about.

I'm not even sure of Mingo, Gilbert, Erving and Shelton how many have to really blossom this year to ease my suffering. Did I forget anyone still with the team?

But forget them... really I just need for it to be obvious we get this year right... no matter where the pick ends up being made.

Any of the ghosts of drafts past being resurrected will only be gravy... more for their reinforcing the worth of our staff than that of the players.

Yep, I think all the Camp Wentz/Goffs should be closed. As someone said....you don't pay that price to move up for anything but a QB, and the Rams and Eagles are going to take those QBs.

Not sure if Camp Bosa should be closed....Camp Trade Down is still active with talk of the Tits maybe wanting to go back up.

And Camp Lynch is still in the mix

Other Camps that could be created: Buckner, Hargreaves, Jack etc.

No sense in starting another camp when the Browns still might

trade down a few more spots again....

or trade back up ahead of the niners, if Wentz somehow falls a few more spots.

crap. lol. I will say this - no one player can have the dramatic impact of the players

selected with the new picks...

as long as the Browns hit on them.

Let's hope not...

Looks like the Rams will settle our little bet...
