gftChris Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 Looks like a cellphone, unfolds to a gun. You holster this in what looks like a regular phone container on your belt or wherever, so I guess it counts as concealed carry. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-lazar/ideal-conceals-new-cellph_b_9590810.html On the pro-side: Stop being hassled about open carry Still have easy access to your gun On the con-side: Now anyone who has a cell/mobile phone on them could arguably seen as potentially carrying a gun by law enforcement - you see kids getting shot for carry a BB gun or air rifle or whatever (another story for another time, please refrain), does this make it more likely 'troubled' kids will end up on the wrong side of a bullet? Also, someone could pretend to be 'filming' the cops or whoever, like you see a lot these days, on their phone, and all of a sudden flip, it's a gun, bang bang. I can see the good idea, but it might have unintended side-effects. What do y'all* think? *I hope you appreciate my attempt at assimilation. Did I use it right?
gftChris Posted April 4, 2016 Author Report Posted April 4, 2016 Also, side poll - cell phone, hand phone, mobile phone or other? For the brits, it's a mobile. Just curious, always assumed it was cell in the US, but seen some adverts recently that used mobile. Hand phone (HP) is used ubiquitously in SE Asia.
Legacy Fan Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 I've always been suspicious of people who clip their cellphones to their belt/waist like that. Also "hands up" means exactly that. Put your hands where the officer can see them, and don't fucking move them. As for the gun itself- ugh. Terrible looking.
gftChris Posted April 4, 2016 Author Report Posted April 4, 2016 It tends to be a middle aged/american phenomenon. That is, if someone has their phone clipped there, they're probably middle aged, american, or both. Genuinely, it's about 99% true.
Legacy Fan Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 I'd have to agree. It's an updated fanny pack. Just an awful look.
calfoxwc Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 limited, I figure, to .22 magnum? must kick like a mule. Although, a mugger with a knife that demands you to turn over your cellphone...that would work... I'd rather avoid places where you could get mugged, if at all possible....

They have derringers that go up to some goofy calibers. They beat your hands to death.
The Cysko Kid Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 Just get a Taurus curve and skip the gimmicky bullshit of a transformer gun.
bbedward Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 Also, side poll - cell phone, hand phone, mobile phone or other? For the brits, it's a mobile. Just curious, always assumed it was cell in the US, but seen some adverts recently that used mobile. Hand phone (HP) is used ubiquitously in SE Asia. Cell phone is probably most common, but mobile is used too. As far as the gun, seems more of a gimmick. I can't find details as far as capacity or anything but based on the pictures looks like it only loads 2 rounds of .380 - no magazine or anything. Probably has a pretty good kick too. I'd probably feel better carrying some other compact gun like the taurus 738 or lcp 380. Easy to conceal, higher capacity, don't have to unfold it and such before it's ready to shoot.
Legacy Fan Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 S&W m&p shield is pretty tough to beat for a carry gun. Tucks away pretty nicely unless you exclusively wear wrestling singlets. Comes in 2 flavors too: 9mm and .40s&w.
One Post Posted April 9, 2016 Report Posted April 9, 2016 Just grow your toenails long and file them to a sharp point. Then stab kick a mother fucker. Hiii-ya!
tiamat63 Posted April 9, 2016 Report Posted April 9, 2016 I think the open carry thing should be addressed. Why you would want anyone to be able to identify you as armed to begin with is beyond conventional wisdom.

Why you would want anyone to be able to identify you as armed to begin with is beyond conventional wisdom. The only time I "open carry" is in the woods camping, hiking, or hunting in bear country. Just more comfortable. In "public" always concealed.
bbedward Posted April 9, 2016 Report Posted April 9, 2016 I think the open carry thing should be addressed. Why you would want anyone to be able to identify you as armed to begin with is beyond conventional wisdom. Usually if somebody sees you're armed they won't mess with you, that's usually the logic. But then they'd just go mess with the some other guy who isn't armed
calfoxwc Posted April 9, 2016 Report Posted April 9, 2016 The only time I "open carry" is in the woods camping, hiking, or hunting in bear country. Just more comfortable. In "public" always concealed. Exactly.

But then they'd just go mess with the some other guy who isn't armed If you're idea is to deter a potential crazy that may have a weapon by flashing your own, then sadly you've instead just marked yourself as a priority #1 target. Anyone that's learned personal defense knows you disable your top threat then work down the list - A,B, C. In "public" always concealed. This guy gets it.
bbedward Posted April 9, 2016 Report Posted April 9, 2016 If you're idea is to deter a potential crazy that may have a weapon by flashing your own, then sadly you've instead just marked yourself as a priority #1 target. Anyone that's learned personal defense knows you disable your top threat then work down the list - A,B, C. I was just saying that's the logic, not that I agree with it. Even if that was the case the person would still victimize somebody who may not be able to defend themselves - it's silly. I was disappointed to learn that the Westside market is a no carry zone today Normally I'd go somewhere else, but it's the Westside market - so I walked back to the car and locked it up. I carry inside the waistband typically. If I was out mowing the lawn or something I'd open carry
LogicIsForSquares Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 I carry in places with "no gun" signs all the time. If they can see it then I failed at concealing it.
bbedward Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 I carry in places with "no gun" signs all the time. If they can see it then I failed at concealing it. It's a M4 I think but I could see most reasonable cops letting it slide if you told them you didn't see the sign. I carry pretty much a full size and you can't really tell, but the WS market is a big crowded place and there's always officers around so didn't wanna take the chance.
calfoxwc Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 I won't carry inside a place with the no guns sign. I just wish they didn't have any of those signs - most of the time I don't shop in those places. One place in Canton, we went to - and I was armed, walked into the office, and there they had their sign - on their little lobby bulletin board. That is actually illegal here in Ohio. Probably cause it defeats the freakin "purpose" in the first place. There is actually one parking lot, I think it's at the Strip...where they have the sign as you enter the parking lot. Seriously? I don't think that's legal either... I'm packing when we go to the Cleveland airport to pick friends up, especially in the early evening/night. Would never go inside the airport...
Clevfan4life Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 Only a matter of time before something like this gets 3d printed. Should be fine though, no need for any kind of regulation
bbedward Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 They can identify a gun even if it's 3d printed. About the Westside market and no gun signs, they have several entrances/exits along the side and only have the no gun sign on a couple of them. Treading in that Ohio city/tremont area I definitely feel better carrying - especially given all the car jackings last year that happened in broad daylight

Specifically CMHA riverview is right next to it. Fun fact! Riverview is the largest apartment building in the state of Ohio and it's a nightmare public housing project.
The Cysko Kid Posted April 10, 2016 Report Posted April 10, 2016 Cmha Lakeview which is even worse is two blocks north of it.
