There's actually a pretty strong case to make that US foreign policy tends to suck when we don't have divided gov't, with Carter and Bush 43 being two notable examples. Because the civil rights movement led to many hawkish Southern Democrats joining the Republican party, it created a stronger ideological divide between the two parties on foreign affairs. So when one party's in control, foreign policy tends to veer to one extreme.

Hopefully, Obama and Gates can keep things pretty bipartisan.

Al that can be a bad thing considering the socialist roots from the democrats. I can see major wealth redistribution coming soon.

It is great that a country like ours can help so many, but it is wrong when you have politicians playing games and creating classs envy to sway the popular opinion about those who have achieved in life are evil and need to pay more when thye are already paying their share and then some.

I dont see bipartisan working, it hasn't happened as of yet. Just look at all the examples of recent bills.

I had to think about this a little bit, I suppose I am ok with "I will survive/party affiliation means nothing to me" Spector.

It will give the Dems the 60 they want in the Senate and they already have the majority in the House..... TEMPORARILY. I am curious more than fearful ONLY because I think Obama is intelligent enough to start plotting all his moves for his reelection bid right now. I think that will temper any of his more extreme possible liberal decision making in the first term.

The other factor is that Democrats are bought off by special interest and big business just like the republicans anyways so I dont see us free falling into extreme liberalism because of the money factor.

I suppose I would like to see what a leader with the intelligence and organization like Obama will do with that sort of power coming from Congress.... It could actually be great or very bad.... I am optimistic in the short term.
