Westside Steve
I never said all change was good Of course you did say that conservatism never solve any problem, you sticking with that? So progressivism is equally responsible for creating problems or making old problems worse? Or not? WSS
MLD Woody
If the current state of something is a problem, and conservatism acts to keep things how they are, it won't solve the problem If the current state of something is a problem, and progressivism acts to make a change, it may or may not solve the problem

MLD Woody
That's also true, I agree. It would also depend on what's driving the progressive change
gftChris
That's also true, I agree. It would also depend on what's driving the progressive change Absolutely. But I find in general things that actually get changed are largely for the better in terms of social issues at least.
calfoxwc
Conservatism (or conservativism) is any political philosophy that favours tradition (in the sense of various religious, cultural, or nationally-defined beliefs and customs) in the face of external forces for change, and is critical of proposals for radical social change. ************************************************ Let's say, there is a big problem of people who can't afford medical insurance. Now, obamaocare was the progressive false solution, that was knee jerked passed by progressives with glee, for unethical and dubious reasons. It did not solve the problem. Sure, it was a quick giant change. Not good. Very bad. Now, if conservatism rejects abrupt change for changes' sake, that is good. Let a conservative approach take it's time, make sure it's designed correctly and really does solve the problem, do some hard core beta testing, and consult with others in the industry to work together, to make a genuine solution. It isn't that conservatives never change anything, but that they are cautious and considerate of many external factors. The progressives that gleefully launched obamao care had little of that involved, and it has blown up in their faces accordinly.
MLD Woody
What "many external factors" are you cautious of in allowing gays to marry? Something that the majority of Americans support?
MLD Woody
Absolutely.
