Hearing LR and the Shelter People was a musical gift from a college roommate that I have passed onto many musical acquaintances since... Saw Leon live twice... Cleveland Muni circa '73 and Houston's weekly "Party on the Plaza" (Jones Plaza) mid-90's-ish... There's now one less, distinctive voice with us now to say the least... Ditto for Cohen... Although I never quite acquired a taste for his voice, covers of his amazing songs popped up everywhere from Nina Simone to the Pixies.
