MJP's Sweet 16 D-1A playoff rules. (yes they are mine so I can do what I want, easy as 1-2-3)

Teams picked from CFP final rankings, same as now.

1. Top 8 of 16 teams awarded the first round home games, 8 win 8 go home.

2. Round two remaining 8 teams pared off and incorporated into the current antiqued and largely empty bowl system. (practically guaranteeing sellouts)

3. Remaining 4 teams go into the same existing format as now. (guaranteeing huge ratings and a huge cash bonanza for the conferences)

That's it, how easy is that! And only very few of the 128 existing D-1A schools will be involved, 8 go home after only ONE game just like the current bowl system. And no child labor laws are broken in fact the kids (well 19-22 year old young men) love it....don't believe it ask those who have been doing it for decades. ;)

...Gee I wonder if I could copyright that?

No, the replacement will likely be just as good n'est ce pas? More of a mobile guy, no? I see the guys name is John "Children" O'Korn......he would have been a more apt recruit for Iowa or Nebraska no? ;)

Peppers plus O'Korn backfield has been coined the PepperKorn offense.

He is more of a mobile guy, I'm sure Harbaugh will have some surprises. But this guy hasn't started in over 2 years. It could be rough.

WEEK 12 POWER RATINGS, ALA +10 over the BUCKEYES on a neutral field?

COLLEGE POWER RATINGS

Instructions...Pers is the personnel rating... in other words a teams raw talent. Then two other factors are to be considered: the Coaching (rated 1 to 5) and the field advantage (HF) of the home team, also rated one to five.

Subtract the total value of the visitor (P+C) from that of the home club (P+C+HF). If you consider coaching important, youll profit from this method. Even if you dont make the calculations, play the better coaches, particularly in games where the line is 7 or less!

Just a note there are 17 teams with a power rating of over 50 and only one ALA at 67.

Power ratings do not move much week to week are a general measure of team strength but give you an approximate gauge of where teams compare regardless of conference or schedule.

Pretty much safe to say only the team's with a PR of over 54 or 55 will have a shot at their conference championship or Final Four.

There is a real log jam with the 55-57 PR teams....Alabama is in a league of their own right now.

So there you go. ......

If m or OSU win out they should still be ahead of PSU in the Final Four....but one will lose!

November 26 should be interesting.

Ohio State beats Michigan State and Michigan, and Penn State also wins out, the Nittany Lions capture the Big Ten East crown by virtue of handing the Buckeyes their only loss, and they would play for the Big Ten title, most likely against Wisconsin. That either sets the stage for two Big Ten teams in the playoff, or the committee leaving out Ohio State because it didn't win its conference title. Or the committee could dump Penn State, which lost by 39 at Michigan, or Wisconsin, and go with the Buckeyes.

Yeah, it's complicated. But what could anyone expect after three of the top four and six of the top 14 teams lost in a single weekend?

There obviously are a lot of critical games ahead, and the only seemingly safe team is No. 1 Alabama, the only remaining unbeaten Power 5 squad, which has almost certainly earned a mulligan after dominating a tough schedule.

Two weekends remain in the regular season, including many rivalry showdowns, and then conference championship games. No. 9 Oklahoma plays two ranked teams -- No. 14 West Virginia and No. 11 Oklahoma State -- to conclude its season, while No. 6 Washington can reverse its downward course against Arizona State, No. 22 Washington State and against a highly ranked team in the Pac-12 title game (No. 13 USC, No. 10 Colorado or No. 12 Utah).

More good news for Washington, which owns the weakest schedule among the contenders: Stanford re-entered the rankings at No. 24, meaning the Huskies now have two wins over ranked teams.

It seems like a stretch that No. 2 Ohio State could win out and not make the playoff, even if the Buckeyes don't make the Big Ten title game. Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State is back at No. 2 due to a strong overall résumé, with three top-20 wins (Wisconsin, Oklahoma and No. 18 Nebraska). The Buckeyes could add Michigan to that list, but they also could end up sitting out the Big Ten title game.

While No. 4 Clemson is no longer unbeaten, it also has quality wins over No. 15 Auburn, No. 5 Louisville and No. 17 Florida State.

Louisville owns a five-game winning streak, and its lone loss was a nail-biter at Clemson. On the other hand, its only quality win came against three-loss Florida State. The Cardinals play unranked Houston on Thursday and conclude their regular season against Kentucky.

Wisconsin's only losses came in consecutive games with Michigan and Ohio State, while it owns quality wins over No. 16 LSU and Nebraska. The Badgers are at Purdue this weekend and conclude their season at home against Minnesota.

In other words, there are a lot of present and future data points that the committee will be considering over the final three weekends. In fact, myriad seemingly off-the-radar games could play roles in how things play out, such as Florida State-Florida and Nebraska-Iowa.

Or what about more upsets? Is South Carolina a potentially tricky matchup for Clemson? Or might Michigan State catch the Buckeyes looking ahead?

There's a lot of football left, and last weekend taught us that believing that clarity might be on hand was a foolish conclusion.

And now rumblings are that Speight could play this weekend if need be...

I have no idea what's going on with our QB situation haha

Wow, shoulder injuries can be really touchy, one wrong hit and you're back on the sidelines. ...or done for the season.

My wife got hurt at work last year, finally had shoulder surgery this May and probably will never work as a nurse again.....and she doesn't wear shoulder pads or get hit by 280 lb. defensive linemen.

I'd like to think so but not necessarily. I'd like to point to a season way back in 2014 where a certain team lost two quarterbacks and still won the championship. If the team is good enough it can definitely happen.

Really you lost one. I mean, you had a portion of the offseason and all regular season for Barrett to start. Who is a better passer than Braxton, which probably helped.

But most importantly, that OSU team had more talent and depth than this Michigan team currently. Losing our QB hurts more. We'll get to that talent level in a year or two, but Harbaugh hasn't had enough time yet.
