DTBH
He had this to say after the Magic gave away another game in Boston last night, blaming the coach for the players on the floor folding like blankets ... "Our coach has to recognize that when he has a certain group out there and they are getting the job done we have to leave those guys on the floor." This kid really needs to look in the damn mirror. He faded down the stretch last night and didn't call for the ball. He lost all intensity and energy, I didn't see him blocking any shots or being active at all down the stretch. He wants to go and blame his coach after he seemingly shows his true colors and can't handle the pressure. He's either too young to be ready for these big games, or he doesn't have the mental strength for it. But blaming the coach when you were as much to blame as anyone else is coward. I think we'll see Boston now... they're galvanized because of their playoff run, while Orlando seems to be falling apart at the seems.
Guest Masters
Howard isn't the only one on that team that is calling out Van Gundy. Their backup center called him out. Where is Van Gundy in the time outs telling his PG to get the ball to Howard? Howard didn't touch the ball in the 4th QTR other than the late inbounds pass. That is on the coach as much as the players. This is also the same Van Gundy Shaq called out as being a master of panic. While Howard should not ever say that to the press, it doesn't mean what he said isn't true.
DTBH
Oh I'm not saying Van Gundy is free of guilt. Shaq seemed right on and Van Gundy certainly could have made sure Howard got the ball as well as ran a play that ensured he WOULDN'T get the ball on that inbounds pass. However, Howard is a "superstar" that was in the MVP race. He's got to command his team... and not place blame. Great players take control of the moment, and they don't let anything control them. Zombo
Me too, I don't want any excuses tainting this title. Yep. Besting the mighty Arizona Cardinals for a championship is nice and all ... but I want to take down the Big Boys. The two most-storied franchises in the NBA. The defending champs and the "it" team with all the talent and all the media love in the world. I just wish Garnett was playing. But it's no excuse for them. When your team depends on a bunch of older players and one of them gets hurt ... that's the way you built your team, you be better be ready for it. Guest Masters
Yeah it's rule numero uno that you don't air dirty laundry in public. However Masters is right, Shaq pretty much called it back in January (I think thats when the interview happened) and he basically prophesied that this would happen. Shaq also called him out some when he was in MIA. I mean this is the same Van Gundy Pat Riley replaced mid season while in MIA and then won a title. lambdo
Forget the media hype. The best in the west is Denver. Chauncey is abusing PG's and Melo is getting buckets at will. With Nene / Kmart / Birdman on the blocks I don't see the soft Lakeshow getting past this squad.

Unless the Laqueers get the Squeeler treatment (favorable officiating), I don't see them getting past Denver. Doug (

Zombo At this point Z- I'm getting too old to worry about that stuff. I wouldn't care if the Cavs won the Championship beating the Washington Generals. Seriously, you think Steeler Vermin care they won #6 over the Cardinals instead of the Giants? Um, at this point, the Garnett-less Smeltics should have lost to the Pacers, and will need the usual home court reffing to beat the Magic in 7. And Blow-me and the Fakers have lost twice to the Yao- less Rockets. Oh, it's all shaping up magnificently for this being the Cav's year- but it ain't over until it's over. Zombo
At this point Z- I'm getting too old to worry about that stuff. I wouldn't care if the Cavs won the Championship beating the Washington Generals. LOL, I hear ya. I want a title so bad i can taste it. Knocking off the Celtics and Lakers might add some pepper to the bragging rights down the road a few years ... but in the end it's the ring it counts. Actually, I also want the Celtics for more immediate reasons, and I'm going to choose my words carefully: I like or matchup against the Celts better, and think if we were fortunate enough to win the next round, a win over the Celts might come with less wear and tear than a win over the Magic. Celts will be coming off two brutal seven game series and without their big man ... well, we'll just let those two beat each other up one more time and see what happens.. In the West ... the Rockets were my preseason favorite to win the West this year ... but that's when they had Yao, McGrady and Alston! This a totally different team. They are gutsy and playing with house money ... anythng is possible in Game seven. But you know Kobe is going to have one of his "I'm putting this effing soft team on my back" kind of games, so you can't really bet against him at this point. Lakers-Nuggets would be another grueling series and would play right into our hands ... again, if we were fortunate to be there. If it did end up Nuggets-Cavs, the main event would be Lebron V. Carmelo, and then Billups v. our guards, but I would love the sideshow of Varajao vs. Birdman Anderson ... that would be some crazy banging and crashing. But I'm not counting Kobe out... LCDawgFan13
I keep hearing people talking about the title being "tainted" or "cheapened" if the Cavs don't play the Celtics or Lakers. I ask why? This years title isn't based on who was the best team LAST year! The bottom line is that the Cavs will play the best team that gets in their way. If that is Orlando in the East, so be it. If Houston or Denver comes from the West...they obviously were better than the Lakers IN THE PLAYOFFS. The playoffs are what counts the most. If the Lakers don't get to the finals, they don't deserve the right to "taint" the title! Now, I hate the Steelers, but was their Super Bowl cheapened because they didn't have to beat the Giants? No! (Regardless that it was cheapend by the officials.) Saying that it is any less of a championship is absolutely STUPID! Bottom line is that if you beat everyone put in front of you from the time the playoffs start until the last game of the Finals, then you have done everything within your power and won the championship. You can't control who your opponents are going to be! With that said, yes, I would like to go through Boston, because I want revenge. And I would like to play the Lakers, because I want to see Kobe lose another NBA Final without Shaq. I can't stand the rapist. (alledgedly...but come on, money exchanges hands and the charges get dropped?) But, if the Cavs play Orlando and Denver, it is still an NBA Championship!
