OldBrownsFan
And that is after surgery? Just shows that surgery is not the answer some think it is. Anyway the gov laying out on the beach that is closed to the public because of the budget? Not good politics.

Gastric bypass is pretty effective at reducing appetite but not still won't help much if your entire diet is chocolate, as I suspect is the case for Christie. jbluhm86
On a lighter note, this was the first thing that popped to mind when I heard about Christie's beach shenanigans:
Westside Steve
Add now back-to our regularly scheduled program of crying about president trump making fun of people's looks. But no, as a fat guy I have looked into this old Browns fan, and the surgery is by no means a guarantee especially the lap band which I hear he had. The gastric bypass is much more reliable and still not a panacea. WSS

WSS I have known a number of people who have gotten the gastric bypass surgery and lost a lot of weight and in just a few years time they have put the weight back on again. I have looked into all the options and there is no magic bullet but the best thing out there today to lose weight is low carb. Dr. Atkins was on to something with this. My wife got me on low carb a few years ago and I lost weight without even trying. You can eat whenever you are hungry and even snack at night, just eat low carb foods. I notice almost all the diets out there today are a variation of the Atkins low carb diet. It works.
DieHardBrownsFan
That's true, you can eat steak, cheese, eggs, milk, etc. Not much vegetables or fiber however. Not good if you have bowel problems.
OldBrownsFan
You would be surprised how many different foods you can eat that are low carb. There are many vegetables you can eat (actually most). Mrs. Obf makes low carb cheesecakes all the time. They have low carb ice cream. Not too much fruit but most berries and cantaloupe OK. What you can't have are most foods that are white such as sugar, flour, bread, pasta, rice, etc...there is a difference between low carb and no carb which is meat, cheese and eggs. Westside Steve
For the record as We Know the governor was at his state provided residence on that Beach. Not really a public beach but Governor's Mansion. But I have to admit the Optics suck given the dearth of fair reporting. WSS

Another benefit to a low carb diet is that it is helpful combating diabetes with the cutting back on sugars.

OldBrownsFan
I don't know. It seems a healthy balance is more in order. I have never had a problem with my weight, I think that eating healthy foods in the proper amounts is the best way to go if you can do it. Every time I tried that though I would fail. I have seen people lose hundreds of pounds on a low carb diet and keep the weight off. The best part is that it is the easiest diet out there in that you don't have to starve yourself to lose weight. This diet tricks your body into burning fat and that is the key. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is overweight and thinking about having gastric bypass surgery to try a low carb diet first.
