THE BROWNS BOARD

BROWNS / STEELERS rivalry, dead or a non issue ?

As a Browns fan, we all love the BROWNS-STEELERS match ups. Over the past 18 yrs since the Browns returned to the NFL, this classic divisional rivalry has been totally one sided. Even though the Steelers have the winning side of our match ups, is this still looked at as a rivalry, or just another match up? Has the classic hatred for eachother still excite this match up each year?

As for me, its just another game, because the winning percentage goes to the Steelers, but if the Browns begin winning games each match up then the rivalry will return.

It's a non issue for the NFL community now. Because we've sucked so bad for so long....obviously. The games haven't been a fair fight.

It will forever be a rivalry for me. Just watch, we are going to kick them in the nutsack on opening day.

Wouldn't that be the best. Maybe not this year, but soon. I sure hope. If this team ever gets it together and becomes a powerhouse again it's going to mean more to us than any other sports fanbase could ever understand. That's why I keep putting my hand on the hot burner. I love the Cleveland Browns and always will.

The Steelers and their fans probably don't give a shit. Browns have been the longest-running joke in the NFL.

But to me? Fucking hate the Steelers, hate their fans, hate their colors... Hate their fucking name.

There's no team I want to beat the piss out of more than those assholes.

They don't until we beat them. I had a blast in 08? When David Bowens picked off been to seal the win.

It burns them, but they assume it won't last. And it hasn't...browns get a win, lose the next 5 or 10.

Browns sweep them...which won't be this year, but when it happens, rivalry will be right back on.

Yeah I agree, I think it will take a sweep. Maybe a wildcard weekend victory. That's a couple years out.

The embers are still glowing. All the Browns have to do is re-light the fire.

I have a couple friends who are from Pittspuke & are Steelers Fans...they both want the rivalry back as hot as ever. No "supposed" rivalry the Steelers have with the Ratbirds or Bungals comes close to comparing to the Browns & Steelers. It'll be back sooner than later!

You know, Ben is getting old. They have talent, but Garrett versus Ben honestly, can make the difference. If their offensive line has to focus on this kid, we actually have some other cats now who can disrupt these sonsabitches. I am hungry for an opening day win. I say pull out the stops, play thug football and give the fuckers a dose of their own medicine. I say, the Steelers coming to town for the opener is going to be the best thing for the Browns in years. Come Monday morning and MNF, everyone is going to be talking about the Browns coming out of the cannon.

Fuck next year.

Fuck the Steelers

Literary excellence. Impressive economy of words. A message to last throughout the ages.

Trust me, if the Browns fuck up the Retard crew on opening day? The rivalry is flames on. And really, this is what we wanted, isn't it? Just think we can now go back to the good old days of the Turkey Joe Bradshaw bounce, or the Good old new days when we made Ben rethink his retirement plans.

We are going to beat these sonsabitches on opening day........it is a Ghoolie Guarantee.

First... when gumby has to act as interpreter...

Second... It takes two to make a healthy rivalry.

All rivalries ebb and flow. They are only at their best when the rivals are both playing at a high level... and those times are generally few and usually far between. Otherwise the "down team" has to make do with the occasional "upset" reminding the team on top that "we're still here." That's been us for far too long. This describes Michigan fans as well..

I think Steeler fans think of us the same way I've thought of Michigan for a while now... "They have not been worthy of rivalry status for some time now." But just as I have seen Michigan coming for a couple years now, so now do I think Steeler fans see us coming. True... we've fooled them before, but this time feels different... different enough that I have as much concern of their ability to sustain their divisional relevance as I do us establishing ours.

We shall see...

One other thought... I'm not sure there's another division in the NFL that loads a team with natural rivalries close to the level that the AFCN does us.

  • Two regional rivals, with one intrastate.
  • A rival founded by our founder.
  • A rival that was once our team... that was founded by our owner.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "rivalry overload syndrome", but if there is, then I don't think there's a better candidate in the NFL for it than us.

Actually the rivalry started being one sided before the browns moved to Balt. Steelers winning 6 straight before the move.

The rivalry has been the kind of rivalry bugs have with windshields.

But its still a rivalry.

No definition of the word states that the competing teams must take turns beating each other...

Ghoolie I love you.

And I you, too. It took awhile for me to come back around, but faithful fans like you who put up with me venom, kept me close to the fold.

I want this team to win. I am so fucking tired of hearing how great the Cowboys, Niners and Steeler are. Fucking cocksuckers, all of them. If their fans went through 1 /100 of what we did, they would have to move the team for lack of support. WE are the Terminators of football fans....we keep coming.

I promise you, Garrett is going to fuck up every offense he gets turned loose against. I can't wait for this team to be unleashed.

It still is a rivalry for Browns fans but don't think the Steeler organization, players or fans hold it in the same regard. It's been so lopsided the only reason it is a rivalry for us it gives a chance to care about 2 games for a 3-13 team each year
