Subject: I want to ask you to do something important

Sisters and Brothers --

Just the other day, we defeated another attempt by Senate Republicans to take away health care from millions of Americans.

Now let me be totally clear: If Republicans try again to repeal Obamacare, we will fight them with everything we have. We will not sit back and allow millions of Americans, some with life-threatening illnesses, to lose their lifelines to medical care. But let me also say that our ultimate goal is to go beyond the status quo. In the wealthiest country in the history of the world, health care must be a right, not a privilege, for every man, woman, and child. We must not pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. And that is why I recently introduced, along with 16 other Democrats, a Medicare for All Single Payer bill.

As you know, there is growing disgust in this country with a Republican Party that is not only trying to decimate health care for millions, but wants to give tax breaks to billionaires and refuses to even acknowledge the reality of climate change. Right now, our job is to elect Democrats who have the courage to stand up to the billionaire class and fight for the 99 percent. Our job is to turn back Trump's reactionary agenda, and move this country forward in a progressive way.

So today, I want to ask you to do something important:

Make a $1 donation to Senate Democrats before this Saturday’simportant FEC fundraising deadline.

One of the most significant realities of modern politics is just how successful the Koch brothers and like-minded billionaires have been at moving the Republican Party to the extreme right.

Ideas that were dismissed as downright crazy in 1980 -- like abolishing Medicaid, Medicare, and privatizing Social Security -- are now part of today’s mainstream Republican thinking. Sometimes I wonder what world these people are living in.

But that is what we are up against, and it will take all of us coming together, people of all backgrounds, to defeat them next November.

Help Senate Democrats do that with your $1 donation before this important FEC fundraising deadline.

Not only must we win elections in 2018, we must fight to make the Democratic Party a 50 state party. We can no longer abdicate dozens of states in this country to right-wing Republican extremists. We need to mobilize millions of Americans -- black, white, Latino, Asian-American, Native American -- at the grassroots level to create an economy and government which represents all of us, not just the one percent.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders
