Hi, Browns fans!   :)  A battle of 0-3 teams  as our Cleveland Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals  as The Battle Of Ohio's NFL teams, and AFC North rivals continues in this afternoon's 88th all-time regular season meeting.   Bengals leads the series entering today with a 48-39 record.

Last time Cleveland defeated Cincinnati, the Browns won 24-3, played at Paul Brown Stadium back on November 6, 2014. That win at the time moved Cleveland into first place in the AFC North for the first time since 1994, with a 6-3  record.

Browns last win over the Bengals at First Energy Stadium was a 17-6 win back on September 29, 2013.

Sunny skies at 64 degrees is the game forecast inside FirstEnergy Stadium, with east/southeastern winds at 5 miles per hour.

Browns and Bengals may wear NFL-authorized pink apparel both on the field and in their sidelines to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

NO injuries, win your first game in front of your Browns Faithful, Believeland, and HERE WE GO BROWN-NIES,  HERE WE GO!  WOOF!  WOOF!

The last time the Browns faced the Bengals Kevin Hogan set a Cleveland Browns QB rushing record 100+ yards running the ball. Fun Fact.

Actually here's the scoop.

Kansas City Chiefs

Hogan was selected in the fifth round (162nd overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs on April 30.He was released by the Chiefs on September 3, 2016.

Cleveland Browns

Hogan was signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad on September 4, 2016. On October 11, 2016, he was signed to the active roster. On October 23, 2016, versus the Cincinnati Bengals, he made his NFL debut. He initially entered the game being used in several read option packages at quarterback, rushing three times for 37 yards. However, once starting quarterback Cody Kessler suffered an injury in the second quarter, Hogan then played the rest of the game. Hogan finished the game having completed 12-of-24 passes for 100 yards with two interceptions while also rushing seven times for 104 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown was a 28-yard rush, which set a record for the longest touchdown run by a quarterback in Browns history. He was also the second Browns quarterback to rush for over 100 yards in a game, and the first quarterback in franchise history to do so as a rookie.

On September 8, 2017, Hogan was named the backup to Deshone Kizer. On September 17, 2017, against the Baltimore Ravens, Kizer left the game in the second quarter with a migraine headache. Hogan then entered the game, completing 5 of 11 passes for 118 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception before Kizer returned in the third quarter.

MAYBE, MAYBE NOT WITH THE NEW 10 MINUTE OT RULE -OR- JUST PRAY NO OT.......   OR BETTER YET CHECK WITH ONE MAN'S OPINION SUNDAY MORNING EDITION!

No need to get cute, or outsmart yourself here. The Bengals may not be quite playoff caliber anymore after making the postseason five of the last six seasons, but they are still a couple of levels higher than the Browns. Cincinnati has won and covered the last five in the series, with all of the victories coming by 13 or more points. Cleveland is averaging just eight points during its past five games versus the Bengals.

The Browns have upgraded their talent base. It’s still not close to Cincinnati’s level, however. Cleveland has lost 18 of its last 19 games. The Bengals’ defense still is
very good. They have the edge pass rushers to wreak havoc on rookie QB DeShone Kizer, who is without his favorite target, injured Corey Coleman. Morale is better
for Cincinnati and its offense has picked up since a switch in offensive coordinators from Ken Zampese to Bill Lazor, who is getting A.J. Green and Joe Mixon more
involved. Those are the best skill position players on the field. Andy Dalton is far from our favorite quarterback. But the Browns made Jacoby Brissett look good last
week, so that certainly bodes well for Dalton, especially if linebacker Jamie Collins, the Browns’ best defensive player, is out another week from a concussion.

WHAT RUBBISH GO WITH THE INDIANS......ERRRR THE BROWNIES +3 THIS WEEK, HEY THEY'RE DUE.......RIGHT?

MEANWHILE THE TRIBE GOES 11-0 AND WINS THE WORLD SERIES, hey it is a Wonderful Life right? Is Frank Capra directing this one? ;)

I see a lot of people making predictions, from fans to beat writers. Several Cleveland area writers even predicted Browns to win, and I just shake my head. Listen, I desperately WANT the Browns to win, but so many people are focusing on the wrong things right now for this game. I keep hearing about how Andy Dalton, and how he's not playing well, and we're going to force him to turn it over or whatever. The main problem facing the Browns has NOTHING to do with the Bengals' offense. No, the biggest issue is that the Bengals have a dominant front 7, and that is probably going to be the difference in the game.

I'm not sure people understand how nasty Geno Atkins really is and just how much disruption he can cause for our offense. You toss in Burfict and it starts to get ugly quick. We haven't run the ball well, and I wouldn't expect that to change now.

The other major factor going against us is our injuries. We literally don't have most of our best players active, and for a team with little talent to begin with, that's a death knell. We have the worst DE's in the world. We don't get pressure without the blitz, and we don't usually get it WITH heat either. It's a problem, and it's why we used the 1st overall pick on Myles Garrett. But in usual Browns fashion, he suffered a freak injury right before the start of the season and still hasn't played. Just awesome.

This isn't to say that the Browns can't win. I just wouldn't EVER bet on it. We can win if we somehow get off to a quick start. If we put pressure on Cincy early, they may fall apart. They're 0-3, and they're not used to it. Jump on them early, fluster them, and cut down on the penalties. Get Duke the rock early and often. He's the playmaker. Dare I say he's our ONLY one right now, and we need to find ways to get him involved from the first quarter and CONTINUE to keep him involved. You guys probably know this, but Duke's amazing touchdown run last week wasn't the called play from Hue. Kizer switched to that play after seeing something he didn't like, and that's real growth.

I'd love to tell you we're going to see fewer turnovers from Kizer, but that really isn't realistic for a young rookie. Despite a shaky performance last week, the Colts game was still his best effort. He was more confident, decisive, and actually scanned the field a few times. That's the kind of early growth we're looking for right now, and the reduction in turnovers will hopefully soon follow. What we really need to see is better accuracy, but I don't know if that's possible. If Kizer doesn't "make it", that will be the reason why. That slant to Britt last week killed us. Yeah Britt got his hands on it, but it was an awful toss, and Britt was seriously open.

This game won't be close if we get down early. We need to find a way to start fast on our first drive, even if it's a FG. Or God forbid we win the coin toss and we get to throw our defense out there first. Wouldn't THAT be nice? I mean, the season is such a cluster taco that we catch even win a coin toss! ARGH!

To wrap up, we are missing Jamie Collins, Myles Garrett, Corey Coleman, and probably Danny Shelton. Conversely, Bengals will get Burfict back, and that's a jolt we really didn't need to face. Bengals will want to run the rock with Mixon (they drafted a stud RB instead of a deep safety experiment), and they will take multiple shots down the field to a legitimate WR threat in Green, and that will be the eventual difference. The Bengals have legit threats on offense, and their front 7 is way too tough for us to handle. I only hope Kizer stays healthy because I'm seriously worried about him making it through the game. I can't talk myself into a close game, let alone a Browns victory.

Official Jiggins prediction:

Bengals - 31

Browns - 13

Final injury update.
  • Geno was dinged last week, but is not listed... calf injury IIRC.
  • Collins still in protocol really concerns me, but Danny's a go and Myles shaping up to be a game time decision. I did not know Telfer had an issue.

Sportsline says Cincy is -3.5 and O/U is 40, but they predict the final score of Cincy 21  Browns 15, so they are betting Cincy with the under.

I think it is likely to be 27 - 14 Cincy so I would be Cincy with the over.

Want to make a ton of money next week on a college game? Take Bama and all it's 5***** Jr & Sr. team with the over against my Soph/Freshman loaded Ags. Bet the house no matter what the line is on it because it won't be close. Experienced steamroller against a Fiat 500. Won't be pretty.

Fun fact #2: In the same game vs. Cincy, Hogan also went 12-24 for 100 yards, with 2 INTs - effectively running for more yards than he actually threw for.

Might want to hop off that Hogan bandwagon now, because I don't think it's gonna make it all the way down the trail to Oregon, Tanto.
