What is the only team worth rooting for now that is left in the playoffs?

Answer:

The Astros.

For a few reasons, primarily:

A. They are innocuous and not obnoxious like say Yankee fans, or a team that the media commits fellatio because they are big market loverboys like the Dodgers.

B. And because now the Cubs are not "lovable losers".

C. And mostly because, other than the Indians, no MLB team's fan base has waited longer than the Astros fan base.  While the Texans fka Washington Senators have technically gone one year longer than the Astros fan base, that is deceiving because that organization did not arrive in the Dallas/FW area until 1972, though it began in Washington in 1961.   The Astros/Colt 45s  have been in Houston since 1962...and, like I said, only Indians fan (of course) have waited longer for a title.

When the Cubs, Dodgers and Yankees are good, baseball gets more attention and that's a good thing.

When small markets like the Astros are good it's good for baseball because it proves that talent can be collected and be successful in any given year.

Uhm, Houston is like the 4th largest city in the in the USA....at at least Top Ten in "market" size.  (actually, after looking it up...it is #8). So it ain't no small market. There are at  22 "smaller markets":

I noted elsewhere that MLB is having preliminary discussions about expansion.....but only after the Oakland and Tampa Stadium situations are involved.  There prime target is Charlotte...appropriately.  It is the largest "stand alone" market without a baseball team. (Orlando is considered too close to Tampa, and Sacramento too close to the bay area to be considered "stand alone").  Raleigh-Durham would be considered also as part of the Charlotte team area.

The other place they are looking at is Mexico.  I would prefer Monterrey....it is much closer to the US border.  Baseball may want Mexico City.

I'm a little surprised on the Ohio cities being as high as they are, Cleveland is a bit of a stretch with Akron/Canton I wonder what most metro go out mileage wise.The old three C's are 19-32-36.

Oh in somewhat related gossip the Columbus Crew thinking of relocating to Austin?

Soccer? Never heard that.  Not sure why?  More people who care about soccer?

And why would you be surprised about the ranking of Ohio cities?  They should be higher with people moving out of the sweat/hurricane belt.

Actually there is some slight beginning of people moving back up north -but- not in big numbers yet......and then there's the jobs angle, that might take time. Cities like Detroit and Cleveland still  have negative population growth from recent data.

Can't root for the Stros. Talked too much trash to their fans throughout the season and got too much of it back this/last week that now I have to root for the Yankees hoping they'll vindicate our pitiful meltdown.
