THE BROWNS BOARD

A Manning Coup D'etat

Here is a scenario that I heard speculated on on the radio the other day:

A. After the bye week......Haslam appoints Peyton Manning as Director of Football Operations

B. Immediately thereafter, and before the trade deadline, Peyton engineers a trade with the 1-6 NY Giants to bring QB Eli Manning to become the QB of the Cleveland Browns.

C. With Eli on board....his contract runs another couple of years, Peyton  investigates which young QB that will come along should be brought in here via the draft or otherwise, and Peyton and Eli groom this young QB to take over for Eli.

D.  They bring Archie Manning on board also, unofficially to help with this selection process.

The Mannings have a substantial history with bringing along young QBs through their Quarterback Academy.  I mean, really, who would be better than these guys to evaluate quarterback potential?  Then you ask....what about the other 21 positions?  They would obviously still have a full scouting staff on hand for that....and Peyton would not be "GM", but DFO.

So....what do you think about dem apples?

No.

Only if your name is Jimmy Haslam do you have the right to say no.

And as far as I can discern, I believe JH is itching at the chance to enter into some kind of association with the Mannings, at least Peyton.

Manning Academy is a first class operation and most of the best go there. Brother Cooper is also part of it I believe.

If it improves the QB room and the team.. I'm all for it...

What will all y'all give me if this completely out there scenario would actually come to pass?

A signed Mo Carthon playbook from his OC days here, complete with the crayon set he drew it with.

Gipper is saying that Peyton would be in charge.

All this Manning cowpoop is almost as bad as the Josh Gordon garbage that is going around. Neither is coming to or going to play for the Browns, And neither of them would want to come to this 3 ring circus. We just have to keep looking. Jimmy really thinks he is going to find a guy with no nfl head coach exp and is going to make us winners. sigh.

A- OK, B,C,D ain't happening.

Just no Gip- was that Goldhammer speculating? Eli is about as washed up as a beached whale. We coulda kept Josh McCown if you want a mentor. Hells bells, did the radio talking head even bother to look at Eli's contract? http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/eli-manning-4348/  he's not worth 1\2 of that- seriously. Oh, I'm sure the Giants would be more than happy to unload his GIANT $22 million contract- for say the extra 6th round pick we stole from the Steelers for Justin Gilbert.

No more washed up Qbs

I agree about bringing in Peyton Manning,

but if he's looking for a fix at this position, throw money at Cousins and find offensive talent in the draft (cough. cough.. Saquon Barkley..)

Sign Alshon Jeffrey, hope Corey Coleman doesn't break his hand 3 years in a row, find a competent T in the draft to replace JT.

If Peyton thinks bringing in Eli is the best solution, it’s time to find a new director of football operations.

I agree with that. When the team is an operating at 100% efficiency Eli is not the guy that can carry them over the line. When the team sucks, he sucks.

I wonder if Archie would be willing to suit up.

We pissed away a perfectly capable veteran already. I don't see trading away the rights to top prospect in 2018 for somebody on his last legs at about to get killed with the worst team in the league.

if the browns are going to trade for a veteran QB, Alex Smith would be a better option with more in the tank.

wasn't alex smith a topic of convo on this board years ago and everyone nayed nayed me when i said yay?

i guess when your franchise is sliding down the pit to hades, everything and everyone is worth a shot.

manning? Shmuck no. keep on believing FAKE media. reaching for straws now are we? why would he want his legacy be remembered as flop biz-wise to join this 'winning' org? like he walks on rarified football water?

That's like the "when I hit the lottery" scenario to me, I'm going to buy a nice vacation home, new cars for everyone, travel the world........

.......oh if I remember to buy a ticket first, oh and if my numbers all come out. Oh.

I'd love to see a situation like that really come true in sunny Cleveland, Ohio but with each passing failing year it gets harder. (Didn't Holmgreen get involved once?)  Love to see it but I'm still holding my breath. GO BROWNS!
