Can be cut after 2018 for zero dollars. Jags got a good deal out of it. Dareus shows up lazy, they are only out a 6th and cut him after 2018. But if he shows up, you only spent a 6th to get there.

Oh.....well then. Ok, why the Shmuck didnt we offer a 4th or some Sheet? One up the hags....i mean Shmuck if he could be cut in a year that would have been possibly the best interior line in football

if they are only going by analytics, and not by love of the game, toughness, character, etc etc etc....

then they need to be reassigned somewhere else - they are not able to make smart football decisions.

Why take all the playing time from the young guys we're trying to build to get a guy we'll cut after half a season? We aren't a DT away from a SB....

Forbthis season ur right but its not like our DT play is scaring anybody. Marcell dareus even if he's declined would still be the best DT on our roster "by far". It might even help danny progress playing with a guy like that. And if he's declined so much that our young guys outplay him, ce la vie buh bye.

There was zero reason not to make that offer unless the guy specifically was like no ill just Shmuck off if u trade me to cleveland. He may have said only a warm climate.

Is the correct answer.

Dareus isn’t that old.

If he shows out, you could possibly talk him into restructuring. A win.If he shows out and still wants crazy money, you can get more than you spent to get him. A win.

If he shows up lazy, you wash your hands of him for nothing after 2018. A good gamble overall. But the current FO might miss out on a WR with no fingers from Randolph Dental College in the 5th round. A can’t miss in Sashi’s eyes.

I'll tell you why Dareus would have been a good pick up. Next year it's possible the Browns address the LDE spot in FA cause let's face it, our guys aren't exactly getting it done. So "in theory", we could bring in Ezekiel Ansah next year or maybe another good Vet comes free who knows...but we'll just use Ansah for now. So Dareus and Danny in the middle with Garrett and Ansah coming off the edges??? Pls think about that. Look maybe ogunjobibbledibble works out or Brantley who knows....but we know as a general statement later draft picks and practice squad picks ups don't usually work out. I'd be happy with Danny and Dareus next year with the other 3 to 4 DT's we have competing for the 2 back up spots.

Dareus on his game is a gap killer in the pass rush. We get more pressure up the middle and it collapses the pocket better for our outside guys. Right now QB's just step up into about 4 acres of space inside the edge rush lanes and the LOS. We really get very little push up the middle. That could also be somewhat by design with what Williams is running right now, cause he might be playing the DT's head up so that no run lanes are created. He might have decided that for at least this year it's best to have the interior concentrate on stopping the run instead of getting upfield. Give him Dareus tho, a guy that stays disciplined against the run but has made swims when he reads pass......we could have something scary. With a good DE opposite Garrett, someone in the interior is being left 1v1, either Danny or Dareus

Wait I thought they were? Guess they can’t miss on a single guy with you.

Agreed and they aren't going to pay him going forward.  He's a 1 year rental for a possible playoff team.
