flyingfooldoug
I don't get it. What exactly is it that makes Hue a great coach? Clock management? QB selection? QB mentoring? Dee Haslam's bull? We should have done the continuity thing with a real football coach. This guy is worse than all the others we had all rolled into one. He should jump in the lake like a e promised but take Stosh the Pud with him and don't come back. Analytics say...worst in Browns history and approaching worst in NFL history. Trust the process my butt!

Not a valid comparison. If Bill B was hired instead of Black Uncle Fester, we owuld have a lot of different players on this team, and of course we wouldn't be so lousy. Not re-signing Pryor was GOOD. Britt was viewed as a solid but unspectacular signing this past season. Not re-signing Mitch was GOOD. [Shon Jackson > schwartz in the total of run+pass] Signing OL's this offseason that don't get our QB Luck'd was GOOD. Getting the extra second while kicking the tires of Ostrich was GOOD -- in fact, it was so good it was[is still] viewed as a revolutionary outside-the-box "first".  There is no silver bullet to fixing the problems on the Browns team.. and not even one or two players from the OSU defense will "fix" it. [For our out-of-state board members, the OSU defense is nicknamed "the silver bullets"]  First question: What, precisely, is your desired goal? If your actual objective is on-field success then you need to look at a much more granular level to define that "success." Is it "stopping the run?" If so then Cleveland is leading the league at 2.9 YPA. Couldn't say that last year - or any year of any previous organization. Is it "stopping the pass"? Here we're 24th in YPA.. To nobody's surprise, this could be improved Is it "yards per rush attempted?" If so then Cleveland defines the league average at 4.1 -- this may not be success but it's not failure. Is it "total yards passing" ? Cleveland is 19th -- sure, improve this, and it shocks nobody that NE is #1 in only this team stat. Is it "Yards per passing attempt" ? Here we're in the bottom quartile at 30th.  So, it seems the areas we need to work on are pass D and pass O. That's much more precise than "EVERYONE GO DIE IN A FIRE NOW KTHXBAI"

So it would seem.  As an owner JH et al have just 2 jobs:  write the checks (after depositing the revenue checks)....and hire the right person to run your organization.  You can't fault JH for the former.....but, with the latter.....goodness.  How many Top Men has JH had here so far since buying the team? From what I can tell, here is the history of it: JH bought the team in August 2012. He brought on Joe Banner that same month as Club President (Aug. 2012) He allowed Holmgren and Heckert to stay on until the end of that year....when they were aufed. Then Banner brought in Mike Lombardi in Feb. 2013. Those two lasted only another year.  They were aufed in January 2014. Where they brought in Ray Farmer as GM, and Alex Scheiner as club President...and they brought in Pettine. In January 2016  both Farmer and Pettine were out. Somewhere in there Scheiner was also out. Sachi Brown was in as Executive VP of Football Operations, Paul DePodesta as "chief strategy officer", and Andrew Berry as VP of Personell.
