The Gipper Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 After the Astros World Series Title here is the list of all 125? current major league franchises in the 4 major sports with the last year in which that team won a title, or the year the franchise was created if they have never won a title (noted as YO for Year of Origin). I have included the Seattle Supersonics as a separate franchise from the OK City Thunder as the Sonics are supposed to be simply an "inactive" franchise, not a defunct franchise or the same as the Thunder franchise. The Gipper Posted November 2, 2017 Author Report Posted November 2, 2017 Note....the Astros had been one of the ten longest waiting franchises prior to winning it all this year. They were formed in 1962. Only the following had waited longer: 1961 Tennessee Titans fka Houston Oilers AFL.....Minnesota Vikings no titles YO.....Texas Rangers fka Washington Senators no titles YO1960 Philadelphia Eagles NFL1958 Atlanta/St. Louis Hawks NBA1957 Detroit Lions NFL1951 Sacramento Kings fka Kansas City/Cincinnati/Rochester Royals NBA1948 Cleveland Indians MLB1947 Arizona/St. Louis/Chicago Cardinals NFL And, of course, these are still waiting. Lets remember how close some of these have come: Indians...had a 3-1 lead in the WS only to choke it away. Rangers....were one strike away from winning it all just a few years ago Cardinals....beaten by last minute TD by Pitt in 2008 SB Titans....one yard short (at least from tying the SB game) (But...this year the Eagles and Vikings have the two best records in the NFL.....could it be one of their years?)
TexasAg1969 Posted November 2, 2017 Report Posted November 2, 2017 And Chicago was one fan reach-over away before they finally won it in later years.

No they weren't. Just because Bartman allegedly interfered with that ball does not mean the Cubs would have won that game....that series...or have gone onto the WS and won there. But thanks to the Indians choking....again, they got theirs last year.
The Gipper Posted November 2, 2017 Author Report Posted November 2, 2017 Another interesting thing that they commented on was the fact that the Astros had gone the third longest in terms of waiting from the inception of the franchise to when they won their first Championship. 55 years. Only the Phillies and the Orioles/Browns went longer in MLB. I think I will document this in another thread for each NFL team.
