THE BROWNS BOARD

Maybe its Hue who doesn't get it

You have a rookie QB who wasn't all that great in college and you are doing this?!?!?!

This is way way to unbalanced for any QB let alone a rookie. Lucky for Kizer  he a big guy. You think  guy like Rosen would survive a full season passing this much?  I think his career would be shorter that Tim Couch.

2016 was almost as bad 62% pass and 38% run which was 27th and again we had a rookie start half those games. We went through 5 different qb and lead the league in sacks allowed with 66. We also ran the 350 time which was 31st yet we averaged 4.9 per carry which was 2nd.

A few lowlights from last weeks game. The 2nd one i remember plain as day it was a double WTF play . The 1st WTF  was all those receive right next to each other and the 2nd WTF when he threw the INT.

Browns Coaching Lowlights

Agree...this is just bad coaching....bad play calling.

I suppose a lot of this stems from the fact that they are always behind and feel they have to throw.  And I suspect that it comes from the fact that on 90% of their first downs they run Crow up the middle for 1 yard...and are always behind the sticks....but it is still an absurdity.

I mentioned what Marty did with Bernie his rookie season.....he ran the hell out of the ball with Byner and Mack....to some success.

Huey is not smart enough to do the same.

Worth posting,thanks..going thru some past rookie QB's worth starting :-) these ratio numbers are just assinine..Hue says he did not want a OC to fail to become the fall guy? We'd only have to drill another hole in the lake ice..

Hue's failing just fine on his own. He's gonna fail his way right out of town after 1-2 total wins in 2 seasons.

Side Note- What are the odds Davis Webb will look good when he plays for the Giants? Word is he's been getting 1st team reps now, and he's  looking legit in practice. He's also benefited from working under Eli, and having a chance to actually learn the NFL game than be stuck out there day one.

And yet, this is counter intuitive to what I hear everyone on these boards tell me is 'football' today.

A one-dimensional offense based on pass, pass, pass, pass, pass is the ONLY way to play in this league, today.

Is Jackson really doing anything 'wrong' by basing his offense on that one-dimensional thinking?  Even if he doesn't have the players to do it, calling for a 2-1 or 3-2 ratio of pass/run plays is a way to protect his job.  He can always say that he followed the modern dogma... the GM just didn't get him the players to make it work.

To pass, pass, pass, pass you actually have to have a passer, passer, passer, passer. Ain't got one.

The Browns should have wins.

1st ranked rushing defense and 16th ranked defense overall. The passing defense would improve with better QB play. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef

The 7th ranked rushing offense overall. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamoff

How in the hell can you have the top 10 rushing offense and defense and be 0 - 14? Kizer and Yew thats why.

Yep....that's it.  You go -25 in turnover ratio....almost 75% worse than any other team in the league.  You put your team into the hands of two guys who are as sharp as a rubber ball...and this is what you get.

I'm not sure the Browns could have mismanaged the QB position worse the last two seasons.

Past two seasons? I think Bill O'Brien has Hue beaten.

Here are the betting odds on Hue returning as head coach. Bet $5 that he does return will get you $10 back. Betting $5 that he will be gone will get you $7 back. So one profits you $5 and the other only $2. So the betting line basically says he is toast.

Jacksonville has passed on 49.41% of their plays thus far (fewest in the NFL), and they are in the playoffs and probably will win their division...

This "passing league" BS needs to stop... it's only a "passing league" when you have an elite "passer"...
