The Gipper
What a boring wasted year in sports this is turning out to be. Start with the Steelers winning the Super Bowl. How boring and wasted was that. Then North Carolina wins the NCAA basketball title. Boring. They bore me. Now it looks like the Lakers may win the NBA. What a boring waste that would be. As much as I could be pissed at the Magic for beating the Cavs, at least they would be fresh blood at winning a title. The Magic making a comeback is at this point the only hope for this not being a completely boring and wasted sports year. And it is the Penguins and RedWings in the NHL finals. It would be a wasted year when any team from Pittsburgh wins. It would merely be boring if Detroit wins. And of course another Cleveland team choked on it. You have Red Right 88, The Drive, the Shot, the Fumble, the Jose Mesa debacle...now this latest venture can only be termed something like "The F***Up. And speaking of F***ups, the Indians who before the season were thought to possibly be a contender at least for a division title have, what? The worst record in the American League. Boring, wasted, yet typical. And who are the leaders in baseball? The Dodgers and the Yankees? Boring! Maybe the Texas Rangers who are doing well could come through in baseball to break up the ennui. Yea, right. Like that is going to happen. And now I see nearly all the initial college football magazines have Florida rated #1 again. God lets hope not. That would mean a boring, wasted college football season. Obviously I would want to see our Cleveland teams dominate if they could. But if they cannot I would like to see some new faces win titles. It would have been very refreshing if the Cardinals would have won the SB, or if Memphis would have won the NCAA, if the Magic could win at this point, or the Blackhawks who haven't won since 1961, or the Texas Rangers, or someone fresh in college football. Just my opinion

Just my opinion Steelers, Tar Heels, Lakers ... might as well just finish it off with the Yankees and Trojans and let the front-runners get real comfortable ... Which sets the stage beautifully for the Cleveland Browns shocking the world and going from 4-12 to Super Bowl champs and the most deserving fans in the world finally tasting the glory... At least that's the way I'd write the ending. I'll take any "Mangini Magic" we can get... Zombo
Gips
This past year i dont think i have ever been so angry and frustrated with the browns from the top down...it is something i wish to never experience again i really hope lerner learned something about keeping personnel to long when they suck... This year the cavs losing out in game 6 and looking weak and owned by the magic put a knot in my gut to start things wrong...hehehe whats the tribe and brownies have in store for us...? Sometimes i curse being born a cleveland sports fan!lol hehehehe

Probably not this year as you need a year to work in a system...but why not next year? FYI, Belichick went 5-11 his first year in NE, then the next year won the Super Bowl. Could that be our fate? lottSaCardinal
It was a wasted year for Cleveland sports, and a wasted 10 years for Browns football! Here we go again...
DawgTracker
I can honestly say this year that the reds could make a run which would at least be a new face. And if they get into the playoffs with their pitching they would have a legitimate chance. The Browns will return to respectable and then good football soon. I lived near boston when they kept chocking year after year and the people there didn't believe it could change, and look now
The Gipper
I can honestly say this year that the reds could make a run which would at least be a new face. And if they get into the playoffs with their pitching they would have a legitimate chance. The Browns will return to respectable and then good football soon. I lived near boston when they kept chocking year after year and the people there didn't believe it could change, and look now I wouldn't call the Reds a "new face". They won a World Series in 1990, which in sports reality was not long ago. What I would consider to be a "new face" is any franchise that has either never won, or which has not won since say 1970. THESE would be the "fresh faces" in my opinion: MLB: Nationals, Rays, Indians, Cubs, Brewers, Astros, Rangers, Rockies, Padres, Giants, Mariners NFL: Bills, Jets, Eagles, Panthers, Falcons, Jaguars, Titans, Bengals, Browns, Lions, Vikings, Chiefs, Saints, Texans, Cardinals, Chargers, Seahawks NBA: Raptors, Nets, Bobcats, Magic, Cavs, Pacers, Bucks, Timberwolves, Hornets, Mavericks, Nuggets, Jazz, Suns, Clippers, Kings NHL: Maple Leafs, Sabres, Capitals, Thrashers, Panthers, BlueJackets, Blackhawks, Wild, Blues, Coyotes, Kings, Sharks, Canucks I mean, the Cubs have not won a world title since 1908. Here are the other most "frustrated" franchises, with the year of their last title, or their year of origin if they have never won: 1908 Chicago Cubs 1947 Cardinals (Chicago/St.Louis/Arizona) 1948 Cleveland Indians 1951 Sacramento Kings (as Rochester Royals and via Cincinnatti and Kansas City) 1954 San Francisco Giants (in New York) 1957 Detroit Lions 1958 Atlanta Hawks (in St. Louis) 1960 Philadelphia Eagles 1961 Chicago Blackhawks Tennesee Titans (as Houston Oilers) Minnesota Vikings (year of origin...no titles) Texas Rangers (year of origin as Washington Senators...no titles) 1962 Houston Astros (year of origin, no titles, originally known as Colt 45s) 1963 San Diego Chargers 1964 Cleveland Browns 1965 Buffalo Bills 1966 Atlanta Falcons (year of origin...no titles) 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs New Orleans Saints (year of origin...no titles) Denver Nuggets (year of origin...no titles) St. Louis Blues (year of origin...no titles) Los Angeles Kings (year of origin...no titles 1968 Cincinnati Bengals (year of origin ...no titles) Phoenix Suns (year of origin...no titles) New York Jets 1969 Milwaukee Brewers (year of origin as Seattle Pilots...no titles) San Diego Padres (year of origin...no titles Washington Nationals (year of origin as Montreal Expos...no titles) Kansas City Chiefs 1970 Cleveland Cavaliers (year of origin...no titles) LA Clippers (year of origin as Buffalo Braves via San Diego...no titles) Vancouver Canucks (year of origin...no titles) Buffalo Sabres (year of origin...no titles) When one of these teams wins a title, then I will say that "new blood" has won. Not a team who has won a mere 19 years ago.
