Clevfan4life
Schefter reporting its 5 years around 16 or 17m. Aren't we paying Vernon 15m over 2 years? I get it, signing flowers "might" have restricted the ability to sign resign garret and Baker in a couple years. But honestly I was expecting flowers to be at or maybe a lil more than 20m. At least closer to Mack's contract than what it appears he going to get from Detroit. At 16m I hope Dorsey at least thought about it and tried to make some numbers work. ..cause holy shit with those 2 ends and Avery, fuck me running that would have been nice. And we would have kept zeitler. Again I'm not big on the numbers....but I realize a 5 year contract could have hemmed us up. But there would always be the possibility of trading him. That contract doesn't seem like something that teams would have been utterly terrified of in 2-3 years. That's a nice pick up for Patricia. gumby73
1)Name any former Patriot starter a team don't overpay for? 2) Amendola 1 year 4.5M (really,he did what at Mia?).. 3) Matt Patricia is closer to the hot seat, now calling in his former saviors..4)Don't expect a Belicheck coached player to come pounding on a browns locker room door..we feed Bill players. and for the life of me, i just don't get it.. Clevfan4life
But Flowers is different. He wasn't unhappy in NE or didn't get along with certain players....he just played his way into a bigger contract than NE could prob offer. He's one of the best. Honestly if both Flowers and Mack were up in FA and both were game to come play here......I'd have to think about it. That's how high I think of Flowers. Maybe i'd still end up going with Mack but in my mind it wouldn't be a simple decision. He's 3 years younger than Mack and just coming off his first contract. Yeah, Mack has 50 career stats to Flowers 21. But in 3 years I would expect Flowers to avg at least 12 or more sacks a season...especially if he was rushing opposite Myles. Oh dear lord those two. If Casey Casem was still around - I'm sure he'd be happy to get this over to Dorsey for you... Forgivable? Or...

You are correct on Vernon salary but you can't just overlook the flexibility it allows us in two years. Also all his guaranteed money has been paid. If he gets injured or doesnt perform be can be released without being owed any money. Wouldn't be the case with flowers. Also you have to look at the 12.5 Zeitler was going to be making. He would still be on the team so instead of looking at it as flowers for 15 mil and vernon for 15 mil look at it as Vernon is only adding a total of 5 million to browns cap over two years where signing flowers added 85 million to browns cap number over 5 years. Clevfan4life
No I get it. With the Richardson signing I think its moot. We have so much depth now all over the line that tying up tgat much money on one end wouldn't have made sense

Flowers is a good young player, but I didn't see that lofty of praise.
