Book keeping: With Eric Snow, Wally Szczerbiak, Lorenzen Wright, Joe Smith and Varejao having their contracts come to an end, the Cavs have shaved about $29 million off the books from last season when they had a franchise-record $90 million in salaries. They have added to their payroll by several million by trading for O'Neal, but this money coming off is enabling Gilbert to spend this summer.

The dealmakers: Agent Jeff Schwartz is going to be getting a lot of calls today from many teams, including the Cavs. He will be controlling a great deal of the free-agent action this summer. He represents Cavs targets Villanueva and Kidd, in addition to free agents Lamar Odom, Chris Wilcox, Jarrett Jack and Rashad McCants. Another client, Jerry Stackhouse, could become a free agent later this summer. He also represents Blake Griffin, who was selected the No. 1 pick in the draft last week.

Agent Dan Fegan will also be busy and talking to the Cavs. He represents free agents Varejao, Drew Gooden and Shawn Marion, among others. He also is the agent for Ricky Rubio, who is at the center of some controversy about where he will play after being drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Somewhere NY Knick fans are curled up in the fetal position, sucking on the corner of their pillow cases, crying, "Why ... O-why ..."

I hear things with Odom and Lakers have hit stumbling block ... do we make him an offer?
