alporcini
... if just for irony's sense... Jags deal Northcutt for Alexander Comment Email Print Share Associated Press JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded receiver Dennis Northcutt to the Detroit Lions for safety Gerald Alexander. The deal was finalized Tuesday after both players passed physicals. Northcutt gives the Lions a veteran receiver opposite rising star Calvin Johnson. Alexander, a second-round pick in 2007, gives Jacksonville depth in the secondary. He started 16 games as a rookie, but missed most of last year following a neck injury. Northcutt, who has 364 receptions for 4,584 yards and 17 touchdowns, has been projected to start this season. But Jacksonville's three rookie receivers were impressive enough during offseason drills that Northcutt became expendable.

alporcini
actually I remember a preseason game against Carolina in maybe his second year, a game he got hurt, where he blew me away...quick in and out of his moves, good hands, etc/ and off course, then there was that regular season game against Tennessee where he all but took over in OT... (yeah, yeah, I know... someone will bust me for the Pitt playoff loss)
AZBrowns
Northcutt was never used correctly by any Browns staff..... Especially in his first two years.
Guest Aloysius
Northcutt also had a huge drop in the Jaguars' playoff game against the Pats. While his dropsies weren't a chronic problem (he only had 5 in '08), they did seem to happen at the most inopportune times. He's no longer a special specials guy, but he's a decent stopgap slot receiver. He'll play until Derrick Williams is ready.

One was a huge drop where Garrard threaded a beautiful seam route and Cutt would have scored had he caught it. Maybe I'm getting my games and teams confused. Guy is major talented, but he just can't be counted on IMO. I think seeing back to back smallish receivers picked in Cutt and KJ really showed the lack of a gameplan our regime had early on. Then they tried to make up for it by taking an idiot like Dr. Q and then an overrated Andre Davis who both had a little size.
Vegasdogg
Andre Davis and Cutt are the only remaining WR's from those first couple years.

Vegasdogg
Kevin Johnson was one of mine as well. He would always be the go to guy and he made some really great circus catches. Played with heart.

(yeah, yeah, I know... someone will bust me for the Pitt playoff loss) You know, he did miss that catch that would have sealed the victory for the Browns back in 2002. However, the Browns aren't in the situation to win the game if it weren't for Northcutt's heroics all game long. How about that onside kick he basically caught along the sideline like it was an out pattern?
