Anyone who had played five years ago would now be a candidate for the Hall of Fame. That doesn’t mean they’re gonna come close to getting in. I fully expect him to be ignored by the HOF voters . Who in history has ever made the Hall of Fame purely as a kick returner

Wow .. Such a crusty old fucker , aren't ya... I doubt he'll get in but hell.. shouldn't Devin Hester be considered too..?? I guess the HOF acknowledges all positions of the sport and that seems right to me... ...

Ya- it took years for kickers and punters to  get  some  recognition.  It took  Ray Guy, the GOAT of punters  forever to get  in.

Yeah , I was watching the Red Zone last night.. And I believe Deik , Donovan and "Asshat" (Grossi)mentioned the possibility still of Clay Mathews (57) and Earnest Byner (44) of still having a plausible chance to getting into the HOF.

I think special teams players should be looked at but realistically don't have much of a chance at the HOF.

One that should be considered first is former Bills player ST/WR Steve Tasker.

If a Punter can get in why not a returner?

Yale Lary was a punter (44.3 y/p) for the Lions and he got in in 1979.....................................well there was also that little bit of having 50 career interceptions as a safety, but who's counting?😁

A PR/KR/position player with the right numbers and some longevity just might make it but the Hall would almost have to designate a category for it like coaches or contributors to the game.

Who knows someday it might happen?

Well it’s almost taken out of the game today (more touchbacks, punters getting direction and height more so than ever, holding penalties called every SP play) so given the current standard I agree.  BUT  Cribbs Hall and Hester were huge parts of their teams successes on specials team- you can’t discount those guys at the time they played.  Hester is in IMO, Cribbs and Hall should get some votes

anyone remember the Steelers Browns game we almost single handedly pulled off on Josh Cribbs special teams play???

Not only that, he was a good K/P returner, but not one of the best ever. No way he even sniffs the HOF.

I will NEVER forget that frigid Thursday night when he single handedly beat the Steelers.

That puts him in MY HOF.

And the there's Hue Jackson.  In OT against the Steelers...1st and goal from the 1 yard line...and he calls a WR bubble screen pass....and we lose.  He's damned to the Hall Of Shame for eternity!

Loved Cribbs, but agree he has no chance at the HOF......

I think that a HOFer should at least be considered a full time player and starter....exceptions, maybe, being kickers......But Id be agreeable to creating a HOF category that includes specialists(elect 1 per years)....kickers, punters, returners, 3rd down backs, gunners, etc.....

Shows them all..The spin out in KC & the sideline dash in Pittsburgh still ties as my fave "take it to the Cribb" moments..how bout yours? but while were at it..man, i miss those sweet jerseys..

I think he wants you to "FLUFF" it for him lol

Considering how often you seem to be coming to DieHard's rescue lately, I think he'd have to get in line behind you.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.

I’m with you. Besides I think Metcalf should be considered before Josh. Josh was awesome but Metcalf did more as a runner and receiver.

No doubt. And his daddy Terry was a great football player.

Many seem to forget that Cribbs was pretty damn good on coverage too and made many tackles. Hell, his jersey is already there.

Close maybe but I would give the edge to Metcalf......but enjoyed watching them both.   Steve Tasker is still my #1 on the most deserving ST list.
