WEEK 7 - MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL One man's opinion on the New England at the NY Jets game.

Well since our next opponent is playing late Monday night and the BROWNS are well rested let's take a closer look at this game. Blowout right?

Also the Patriots last played on a Thursday night and were watching with interest as the Jets beat Dallas last Sunday. They don’t play zone defense like the Cowboys do. They play man and they do it well. If the Jets have a better offense, defense or special teams than the Patriots, it’s news to us and a lot other folks who know football.

And when Jets’ quarterback Sam Darnold starts stringing good games and team wins together, then we can start believing in him and this team. Darnold’s only game vs. New England was last year’s regular-season finale, won 38-3 by the Pats. Just because the Jets went out and got this guy and that guy since then, and won last week, doesn’t mean they’re suddenly a classy and consistent team. NEW ENGLAND is.

Well at NE -10 and the OVER/UNDER at 43' this should be a no brainier right? For sure the Patriots are NOT looking ahead to the BROWNS game.  And the "Brady and Belichik Way" is to annihilate teams especially weak ones.

SO what to do? EASY, D'UH  go with the machine NE -10 for a bundle and the OVER 43.5 for a little bit more and get ready for the bloodshed.  Patriots style.

NE 10 NYJ O.   3 minutes left in the 1st quarter.  Almost 14-0.

NE 17. NYJ need a prayer.  Whether you like or hate Brady he's really good.  And the defense is nasty good.

NE 24. NYJ ©   Funny how they scored that last TD three times.   Oh need 20 more points to cover the over.

Wow. This defense is exceeding its hype............... maybe some day we'll be lucky enough to have a coach like Bill Belichick.

Too soon?

Is the defense really that good or.... Jets offense...

Well they beat Dallas last week 24-22. The same Dallas that just dismantled Wentz & Philly yesterday 37-10.

EDIT: Only 3 offensive TDs scored on NE this year in the first 6 games.

Last week doesn’t seem to be transferring over. Darnold throwing to guys that are double teamed, OL not even blocking DE’s for a sack.

How Gase doesn’t doesn’t run Bell 40 times a game is a head scratcher.... dude has 7 carries at half time. But we watch Freddie have Baker do the same thing with Chubb in the backfield... so...

I'd call this, 30 minutes of well prepared football via Belicheck..prepared besides, 1 doink off Watson head.1 dropped perfect set-up screen to Michel.. and 1 flag/ 1 drop to Edelman & yeah block was in the back, but than they still score.. damm shame Pats don't allow teams to just be average..Short weeK? might the master rest some defensive starters at 24-0?

well, based on the first half, anybody still want gregg williams to be our hc?

Meanwhile... first drive, flagrant holding on the Pat's LT. no call. Brady throwing to wide open

wr's.... as usual.

and what is the score at half time williams?

nah. I'll keep Kitchens.

in williams defense, the offense is putting their defense in terrible situations....also these are the pats....this is what they do...doesn't matter who the coach is on the other side.....lets see what kitchens and the dc do against them on sunday.....i think its going to be uuuuuuugly.......

About as easy as it gets.  I see a couple of sports books took the BROWNS game off, watch the lines move.

I watched the first half plays only. Stuck around for the Star Wars trailer at halftime.

OK, my observations, here goes...

Patriots do a lot of max protect for Tom, many times keeping in a TE to block. And Cal had it right- refs ignored a flagrant hold. You mean when a defender's shirt is stretched out two feet, and you didn't see it?   They also looked great at doing double team blocks on the inside- will that leave them vulnerable to stunts? Brady is getting the ball out so damn fast (in the two second range) there's little time to get to him on pass rushes. They're running tons of quick outs- you had better jam the Pats receivers at the line and dare Brady to beat you deep. No playing 10 yards off the ball this game.

On defense- New England was playing at least 6, and often 7 in the box- every down. Trusting their defensive backfield can cover one on one. Curtians for Darnold, we bet we can get you from a disguised blitzer. Of course, you don't need to disguise much when the Pats are playing cover zero- a lot.

So Baker and Wilks- give 'em a dose of the same medicine. Quick out Baker, and devise in the box schemes that don't allow Brady the time to think, and figure out a way to defeat the Pat's o-line double teams. Start earning your money Vernon and Richardson. .

EDIT- PS- as the commentator said- if there's plays where Brady is getting the ball out in one second- it has to be a predetermined play- get ball, aim fire, all in one motion.

I would like to immediately alter my former prediction of the upcoming Patriots game, and now I predict we will lose approximately 137-2.

Ummm...that game last night was exactly the OPPOSITE of what I wanted to see. All the buzz is currently around the Patriots' defense, and rightfully so. They've allowed the second fewest points in the Super Bowl era. I can rattle off many more terrifying statistics, but you guys get the point. They play this "Cover Zero" style blitzing defense and several analysts predict it will influence how other teams play defense, similar to the Tampa Two (Cover 2) defenses from the old Bucs that so many coaches emulated. It had Darnold "seeing ghosts" and hopefully Baker will fare better.

Can we win? We CAN, but it will have to be our best game of the year, better than Baltimore. Believe it or not, the Jets had multiple chances to score. They had two red zone INTs before the 4th quarter started, so it could have easily been a relatively close game if the Jets converted their opportunities. Unfortunately, converting red zone opportunities hasn't been our strong suit, but perhaps it's time to change that. Jets also had some very untimely penalties that extended drives, and Patriots WILL make you pay if you do that.

The smart money would be on Baker struggling, just like everyone else, but you never know. Darnold also missed two deep shots that were there, and missed a 4th down pass in the red zone that was open. Translation? You MUST convert the opportunities given to you because they aren't going to come often.

Let's freaking GO Browns.

The only silver lining is that outside the Bills they've played the teams that literally may be 1-5 in the NFL draft. The bills game they looked beatable. Thing is though, we're in the top 10 draft pick column right now too.
