And time flies but the 2019 final four were in the preseason top six, only Alabama minus a quarterback and Georgia didn't make it.

Clemson is the national champion, but Alabama has stood atop the coaches poll for three straight years. Though the powerhouse programs are expected to open at first and second nationally, which team will claim the top spot in 2019?

As always, consider the preseason polls an "initial expectation" list. They hardly mean anything by October, but they shape perception of many programs for the upcoming season.

Amway Poll Prediction......only 4 BIG TEN?

1. Clemson... 3
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State... 2
4. Georgia
5. Oklahoma... 4
6. LSU... 1 the sleeper?
7. Michigan
8. Texas
9. Florida
10. Notre Dame
11. Texas A&M
12. Washington
13. Oregon
14. Penn State
15. Auburn
16. Utah
17. Mississippi State
18. Syracuse
19. Iowa State
20. Wisconsin
21. Stanford
22. Washington State
23. UCF
24. Boise State
25. Missouri

Think you know college football? Who are the 9 all time winningest schools?

1. Michigan

All-time record: 962-345-36 Win percentage: .730  First season: 1879.........by .001%

The 11-time national champion Wolverines are in year five under Jim Harbaugh, searching for their first Big Ten title since 2004. The Wolverines hope to end the recent struggles against Ohio State and compete for a national title.

2. Ohio State

All-time record: 922-325-53  Win percentage: .729  First season: 1890

The winners of the inaugural College Football Playoff in 2014, the Buckeyes have mostly been national title contenders year in and year out since the mid-90s. Since 1995, Ohio State has finished in the top six of the AP poll 15 times with two national championships and two runner-up finishes.

3. Yale

All-time record: 917-380-55   Win percentage: .698   First season: 1872

Yale played its first football game at least seven years before every other school on this list. The Bulldogs joined the Ivy League in 1956 and the Ivy League moved to Division I-AA in 1982. Yale currently plays at the FCS level and won the Ivy League in 2017.

4. Alabama

All-time record: 915-331-43   Win percentage: .727   First season: 1892

Alabama won five national championships in nine years as Nick Saban has made the Crimson Tide the kings of college football. Alabama missed out on adding another title when Clemson beat the Tide in the most recent CFP title game in 2018.

5. Texas

All-time record: 915-374-34   Win percentage: .705   First season: 1893

The Longhorns have experienced a downturn recently with a 53-48 record earlier this decade, but from 2000-09, Texas averaged 11 wins per season and peaked in the top five of the AP poll every season.

Tom Herman, however, improved the Longhorns from 7-6 in his first season to 10-4 last season, including a Sugar Bowl win.

T-6. Oklahoma

All-time record: 907-326-53   Win percentage: .723   First season: 1895

Oklahoma has averaged around 11 wins per season since 2000 and the Sooners have made the College Football Playoff three in the past four years, reaffirming their status not just as a historically great program but one of the best this century.

T-6. Notre Dame

All-time record: 907-326-42   Win percentage: .728   First season: 1887

Notre Dame is just behind Michigan for the highest winning percentage in college football history, winning nearly 73 percent of its games. The Irish have won eight national championships since the Associated Press began certifying the national champion in 1936.

8. Nebraska

All-time record: 902-394-41    Win percentage: .691    First season: 1890

Nebraska is trying to recapture the success it had in the 1970s through the '90s, when the Huskers won five national championships and produced a pair of Heisman Trophy winners. With the hiring of former national championship-winning quarterback Scott Frost as head coach, Nebraska appears to be on the right track. Frost led UCF to a 13-0 record in 2017. The Huskers went only 4-8 in 2018 but were ranked in this year's preseason poll.

9. Penn State

All-time record: 897-393-41   First season: 1887   Win percentage: .689

Penn State has improved from back-to-back seven-win seasons in 2014 and 2015 to consecutive 11-win seasons in 2016 and 2017, when the Nittany Lions finished inside the top 10 of the AP poll. That stretch was just the third two-year span that Penn State won at least 10 games in consecutive years since joining the Big Ten. After winning nine games in 2018, the Nittany Lions will try to win double-digit games again in 2019.

I understood that with  OSU's win vs.  FMU and vs. Wisconsin, they took over that top spot.  (as you can tell from the copy you pasted....it talks about how FMU hopes to "end their struggles" vs. Ohio State.

So, you data is kind of old.

That's from NCAA. Org.  I think they just updated the totals and percentages but the write-ups might be preseason.

I am pretty certain this was preseason....OSU has taken over.  I heard that during the game.

Just checked the article from NCAA.org was dated December 1, 2019 but their wins and % are not up to date. I generally check my posts and facts -but- watch who you quote online.

ANDY WITTRY | NCAA.COM | DECEMBER 1, 2019

College football's 9 winningest teams...still up there now.

From the old wiki September 29, 2019.....so OSU has a few more wins.  ↓

Well, here is some data for you:

May 30, 1879

The first intercollegiate football game in Michigan history was played against the "Purple Stockings" from Racine College on May 30, 1879, at the Chicago White Stockings' grounds in Lakefront Park (now part of Grant Park).

May 3, 1890

The first Ohio State game was a 20–14 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, on May 3, 1890. The team was a football independent from 1890 to 1901 before joining the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) as a charter member in 1902.

So, Michigan has been playing 11 years longer than OSU.
Interesting though....that they were playing college football in May back in those days.

During the Wisconsin/Bucks game..Do you remember seeing a stat graphic overall rating the 4 final teams by strengh of schedule & other built in stats? Bucks were rated 1st with like a 540'ish score..2)LSU ? 3)Clemson ?...A projected 4th team had like 2-3 options of teams?

Ohio State had the record and numbers to deserve a #1 seed, maybe the early 7-21 score or something like that got them bumped to a #2 seed.

Well it might be a classic game and we get to sit back and watch it in primetime !

I think that is it.  As I said,  Wisconsin was a far tougher task than Georgia was for LSU, and whomever Clemson played, who they rolled. Wisc. is much better than  GA imo.

Wisconsin is a good team,  6 Oregon vs 8 Wisconsin is going to be a good game.

13 Alabama vs 14 Michigan should be interesting too.

GO BIG TEN, we'll see who's better.

If ALABAMA plays all it’s good players. Meatchicken will lose by 30+

Something seems off on this game, sure Alabama has lost their starting quarterback a big deal to any team probably cost them a final four spot  -but-  the current line is ALA -7, based on previous power rankings (which are used as rough guides to set lines, I will also try to get an up to date one) it should be more like ALA -13 but we'll see.

The game is on New Year's Day so we'll see where that goes.  Also bowl games have their surprises we'll see how fired up Michigan is in this one.

Well a little movement in the top teams betting odds of winning the National Championship on December 19, 2019.

ODDS TO WIN 2019-20 COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (1/6/20)
Team Odds
LSU Tigers 7/5
Clemson Tigers 2/1
Ohio State Buckeyes 3/1
Oklahoma Sooners 16/1

How do I bet on the College Football Championship Game?

The Future Odds wager is very simple for the College Football Championship Game. Many bettors identify it as an “Odds to Win” bet or future wager. Like all other wagers, bettors must correctly select a team to win an event that takes place a later time – in this case the College Football Championship.

The money wagered will be tied up until there is an outcome and bettors will receive fixed odds when they place the wager. For college football, the most valuable odds and big payout tickets are scooped up before the season begins when a school is quietly going unnoticed.

To figure out how you win when betting on the College Football Championship Game, it’s just simple math. You take the odds and multiply by the amount wagered.

Ex. Ohio State Buckeyes (4/1) to win the National Championship.

The Buckeyes are listed as an 4/1 betting choice to win the National Championship. If you wager $100 on Ohio State to win it all and they capture the championship, then you would win $400 (4 ÷ 1 x 100). You would collect $500, which includes your win and stake ($100) or initial amount that you used to bet on the Future Odds ticket.

Bettors preferring to use American Odds would see Ohio State listed at +400 on their Future Odds market while the Decimal version on the Buckeyes would be 5.00

Right now Friday night both the OHIO STATE football and basketball (11-1) teams are #2 in the USA!

No other BIG TEN hoops team in the top 10.  Michigan is #11.

LSU vs OHIO STATE would have been a better marquee matchup, "the Ohio kid comes home to play his former team ....in La.".

Oh so close......
