THE BROWNS BOARD

Tackling in practice

Comment was that we had a veteran defense and that it was to avoid injuries. I still think it is a crappy way to go because you don't grow your young players that way...and if the vets can't hang, they shouldn't be on the field anyway...or just hold them out every couple of days.

Whatever...now I guess we know why Wimbley and the rest never developed. The only time they got a chance to tackle was in the live games.

Thats funny.

Talk about being thrown under the bus.

Nothing personal.

I'd agree if I could, but I can't.

You could almost imagine RAC and his staff telling the DBs to swing their purses at the RB or the receiver as they went by with the ball.

Does explain quite a bit of sucktitude we saw.

No wonder the players loved romeo as a coach.....this is the very first time I've heard of this! Lombardi would roll over in his grave....ungheard of to me!!! that's what doubles are for!!! i'm flabbergasted

Hmmmm...I thought that was fairly common knowledge the team did a lot of 2 hand touch in practice under Romeo.

The humor lies in the fact that the minute a 'said' player informs the public of past regime practices compared to new it is conceived as "up yours RAC" which we'll probaly see more of over the course of the next season.

RAC was thinkin Arby's far more than he was thinkin Browns.

Nice guy, bad head coach.

Tackle away!!

I'm glad to hear this. The defense might improve from this, but I've got to wonder if it won't help the offense too... no pressure of being tackled has got to have made the O a hair soft over the years. I'm thinking the defense should even have clearance to clobber the QBs this preseason. We've got 2 competing and it would be nice to see them compete with the possibility of getting tackled so we've got a bit of a hint of how they'd handle game pressure in more than just the snaps they'll see in preseason games.

I can assure you I am in utter shock hearing this.

Not only do all the players need to tackle in practice....TO PRACTICE TACKLING!!!!!.....but to build up endurance, muscle strength and resistance, connective tissue strength and fitness (dont laugh) to avoid ruptures, etc and TIMING in LIVE PLAY FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!!!

Romeo should be rehired....and then shot.....and then fired.

Thank Goodness for our new regime.
