RAPID REPORTS ARE BELOW

3:55:04 pm The combination of QB Derek Anderson and veteran WR Mike Furrey hooked up for a long touchdown strike. But even that didn't conclude a practice that is running extremely long.

3:41:18 pm Newly acquired Browns WR Edward Williams didn't make a good initial impression when he let a Derek Anderson pass slip right out of his hands.

3:38:12 pm Browns starting QB contender Brady Quinn has performed well today. He has shown strong accuracy and touch on his passes.

3:31:32 pm Browns rookie RB James Davis, who returned today after missing two days following a dental procedure, made a statement by snagging a swing pass and scoring in game simulation. He has been one of the surprises of camp.

3:28:35 pm Browns starting S candidate Brodney Pool matched rival Mike Adams by picking off a pass from backup QB Brett Ratliff.

3:17:26 pm Former Browns All-Pro QB Bernie Kosar, who serves as a color announcer on preseason games, is here today. He has been a sympathetic figure in Cleveland in recent months after going public with his financial problems.

3:14:48 pm Though 2007 Pro Bowler Josh Cribbs should be the starting KR when the regular season begins, Mike Furrey, Gerard Lawson and Jordan Norwood continue to work on those skills as well.

3:01:40 pm Browns WR Brian Robiskie, who seems to have fallen behind fellow rookie Mohamed Massaquoi in the battle for a starting job, has had a productive day. He's snagged several passes.

2:57:53 pm Veteran WR Mike Furrey has been a ball-catching machine throughout camp. He could prove valuable, particularly as a slot receiver.

2:54:35 pm Browns S Mike Adams, who is competing with Brodney Pool and others for a starting spot, intercepted a halfback option pass along the sideline.

2:38:56 pm Browns CB Eric Wright has returned to practice after being treated for an ankle injury.

2:32:48 pm RB Noah Herron might not make the roster, but he continues to impress with his ability to sneak through holes between the tackles for long gains.

2:26:55 pm Browns LB Kamerion Wimbley is back on the practice field after opening on a stationery bike.

2:24:17 pm Trainers examined the ankle of top Browns CB Eric Wright, who was treated before running on it. He appears OK.

2:06:06 pm Browns WR Braylon Edwards has returned to practice today after tweaking his ankle or foot yesterday and leaving the afternoon session.

2:05:26 pm Three Browns are riding stationery bikes and not practicing today: NT Shaun Rogers, LB Kamerion Wimbley and RB Jerome Harrison.

1:58:04 pm Look for the Browns to use the no-huddle offense extensively this season. Coach Eric Mangini said he is even open to utilizing it for entire games. "Quarterbacks like it because it puts pressure on defenses and seems to simplify things."

1:57:30 pm Browns coach Eric Mangini was encouraged by the offensive performance in yesterday's practice. "A lot of things we've talked about and incorporated showed up on tape," he said.

1:56:59 pm Browns LB Kamerion Wimbley is focusing on adding to his repertoire of moves in an attempt to improve his pass rushing skills. "He's worked on and I'm pleased," said coach Eric Mangini. "But we have to turn it into muscle memory so he doesn't revert to his natural reactions."

1:55:02 pm Browns coach Eric Mangini praised QB Derek Anderson for his work at practice yesterday, but added that rival Brady Quinn has also shown flashes of strong play as well. "Both of them are getting better," he said. "They're starting to recognize certain fronts and certain looks."

1:53:27 pm DL Ahtyba Rubin has shown signs of improvement and coach Eric Mangini is duly impressed, but cautious. "It depends on the play," he saud. "Sometimes he'll get the better of someone and someimes he won't. The key is to have the balance sheet in your favor."

1:52:32 pm Browns rookie C Alex Mack, who has appeared to have fallen behind Hank Fraley for a starting position, met with coach Eric Mangini this morning. "He has a lot of resonsbility in terms of assignments and adjustments and he has to train his body so he doesn't revert back to techniques he's used to," Mangini said.

1:51:02 pm Browns coach Eric Mangini will speak to starting QB candidates Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson tomorrow about which one will open against the Packers. He has stated, however, that the other one will start the following week at home against Detroit.

1:50:08 pm The Packers are one of three teams on the preseason schedule the Browns will play during the regular season. Coach Eric Mangini hopes his team will benefit from that. "I think there could be information gained that we can put in the bank and start at a higher level next time," he said.

1:49:18 pm The Browns worked on the game plan for tomorrow's exhibition opener at Green Bay yesterday and will continue that process today.

1:48:48 pm It is hoped that Browns WR Braylon Edwards , who missed the end of yesterday's session when he tweaked his right foot or ankle, will return today. Stay tuned.

1:47:22 pm WR Donte Stallworth has been suspended for the season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for the drunk driving incident that left a man dead. Browns coach Eric Mangini said he respects the process and decision and is focused on preparing his team for the season.

I knew it, all of this Brady versus DA discussion has been a coverup! We stole our ten time pro bowl QB from the Jets :o

We didnt really think mangini would have the balls to start DA at home so if DA starts in greenbay it sends the message that he likely doesnt trust anderception enough to start in cleveland and get the fans all riled up this early on...or he wants us to see how bad BQ sucks....muhahahaha! ;)

So far DA looks good but as teams quickly figure out his new gig DA will become increasingly unable to compromise and will likely go dr jekyll and mr hyde on us again..

Bq has always been a gameday warrior where it counts so DA lovers strap on your helms! ;)

It would not suprize me if ratty ends up our starter mangini didnt bring him here for nothing...lets see DA sucks at greenbay BQ sucks in cleveland so we can all see then ratty mysteriously steps in and looks good in game 3 and 4 ahhh we have a winner! hehehehe ;)

I also believe DA will start on Saturday.... Mangini isn't an idiot.... and if there was any way to do it, he would test DA by putting him in a place where he has been known to falter: under pressure against a competitive team (well, moreso than the Lions).

Also, putting BQ in Cleveland would be a great move to please the fans.

Makes sense to me.
