bugzilla
Yeah, yeah. The season hasn't even started, blah, blah, give Mangini a chance, blah, blah, Braylon Edwards will catch the ball this time. Fact is, only a miracle can keep the Browns from the last place ranking in the NFL this season (and we all know, miracles do not happen in Cleveland). Really, they may be good in a few years, but right now they are the worst team in football. So, I need something to look forward to with this team. Just saw Mel Kiper talking about next year's draft class and it looks like a much better one than last year. So, who do we go after? I'm hoping we trade down again and get some real O and D linemen. Dude...are you SERIOUS? They've played ONE meaningless preseason game! It's that kind of attitude that give fans a bad reputation! At least have a little faith. I'm not saying they are going to the Super Bowl...or even the playoffs...but LAST in the league? C'mon man! Are you forgetting how bad some of these other teams are? The Raiders...Rams...Broncos...Lions...Bungals...Chiefs? There is no clear cut leader at the bottom of the NFL! Remember...the Browns looked terrible two years ago and just missed the playoffs. They looked great in the public eye last year and then sucked. Nothing is a foregone conclusion, but I don't see them finishing last in the NFL...especially with the schedule being as friendly as it is! Riceloft
No, we won't be the worst team in football, but look for the RAMS to finish at or aboe .500 this year. Oh yeah, get out

I don't think it will be that bad. I cannot predict a winning record, but it won't be the worst in the league. After all, there are the Raiders! Though the Browns will certainly need help at a variety of areas, the ones that may be primarily of concern for next year in my opinion would include running back, defensive line, defensive back. Hopefully they will be drafting in the middle to later in the draft. Looking at Scout.com's top rankings here are some possibilities: If it is as bad as you think it is, either Taylor Mays, free safety USC or Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma might be worth a look. If it is later, there seem to be several good looking candidates at the Browns area of need: DB...look at Eric Berry SS Tennessee DEs....Greg Hardy Ole Miss, Jermaine Cunningham Florida, DTs....Marvin Austen North Carolina, King Kong Suh Nebraska, Terence Cody Alabama RBs do not appear to have any high rankers....above lower first round. The best may be C.J. Spiller, James Davis running mate at Clemson, or Jahvid Best from Cal. QBs will probably go high in that draft with Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford etc. available. (I do not think Tebow will rate out that high). But, hopefully, that will be a position the Browns have no need to go after.
bugzilla
Don't let the door hit you in the ass, Faux Fan. Way to bail after one preseason game. You are not allowed to cheer when we win. You have to eat crow like a good little Steeler fan. If we beat the Steelers this year I will happily eat crow or any other road kill you can find. I am totally allowed to cheer when we win. I'm just being realistic about what I am seeing from this team so far. I guess the reason I am so negative is that I have absolutely no faith that Mangini knows what he is doing. I know he's going to be the coach for at least a few years and I dread it. I really, really hope that I'm wrong. I will be more than happy to come on this board and apologize to Mangini, Edwards, Anderson and the defense if they will just WIN SOME DAMN GAMES!!!! RestinPeace
For the Browns to win: 1.Brady Quinn to be a above average QB 2.Coleman to be the run stuffer and Elam the S start in waiting that Mangini traded for 3.Mack-Womack-StC run mashing 4.Somebody stepping up at LG 5.miracle at OLB 6.WR/Veikune rookies produce 7.lack of injuries Now listen, I can see SOME of the above happen. But I doubt this is 2007 part duex. I think 1,7,5,3 are the most important in that order.

steel88
These guys remind me of the character Randy Quaid played in the major league movies "Vile thing, you make my butt sting! Dwyer is my favorite back in the draft, but I think he might go in the top
JC
In next year's draft, I think we'll be looking for OLB, RB, and RT. However, I am still fairly optimistic about this year. I'm trying to read between the lines, see the forest for the trees...whatever you want to call it. Maybe I'm just in denial, but I am at least fairly positive that this regime is heading the team in the right direction...unlike the their predecessors. And if it turns out to be a shitty year, just drink more beers during the game...the players look faster and the cheerleaders boobs look bigger. Wait...we don't have cheerleaders. Sweet Louise, Somebody needs a big serving of Kool-Aid from the new Slurpee machine. ( Cool idea Skippy! Way better than a "FAIL" button.) I hear it's the Bug Juice (fruit punch) flavor today. Yum Yum. Look at the calendar. It's still August 2009. I didn't know the NFL played 2 seasons at a time. Wouldn't it be better to let the HC/GM size up their own roster (AFTER the season) and contrast it with the eligible for draft players and then decide on a draft strategy. This thread is the definition of premature. (IMHO) However, suit yourself.
