Miles Garrett stated that our defense is going to be very scary, with the talent and force behind these players, look out , the Browns defense is on the prowl, so a little message to all teams who meet the Browns this season, Be afraid, be very afraid.

Saying it doesn't make it so.   We shall see.

Man, I could do without another word said about the defense until after week 8 as I have heard this song before..... The last time it was titled "Wreck this league".

The Browns biggest weakness on defense going into the offseason is improving the pass rush beyond Myles Garrett.

As of today I don't see how this has been improved.

McKinley and Clowney....replace  Richardson and Olivier.

Does this improve either the pass rush or the run defense....or both....or neither?

Coverage.    Coverage helps to improve any pass rush.

There were never "excuses" to begin with.  Only reasons.

The secondary has been improved, without a doubt. I love the Rams dbacks they added.

I tend to be of the mindset that a pass rush helps the secondary more than vice versa - or at least more consistently.

Some people believe Joe was part of the problem last year.

You're welcomed to send them my way.

I highlighted some of our coverage changes by week 10 alone that showed the man was handicapped by his own personnel and was aware of it. You can go back and search for my posts.

I'd venture a guess Stef and Barry were also aware of what I saw. Otherwise Woods likely wouldn't still be with us.

Again not all his fault but he was not without fault- so another year probably warranted and Stef bringing him back after one year is not a ringing endorsement.  There were  plenty of game posts questioning him.  He called some head scratching games too.  Just off the top of my head Jax. Game where we supplied no pressure outside of our front 4 and we let a box safety like Joseph chase crossing routes...all game.

I would have preferred some added pressure and blitz packages to help a young secondary when it was painfully obvious we had trouble communicating when we sat back in zone and we had guys that couldn’t stay with WRs beyond 4-5 seconds.  Again not entirely his fault (there were personnel issues) but HELP your guys too.

Pressure helps coverage too.

Late in the year too guys pointing fingers at each other jumping up and down (jets game) on coverage breakdowns.  We can’t work a few things out on Tuesday, Wed. And Thursday before one of the biggest games?

I’ll be fair...we had a good game plan against the Titans.  Shadowing Brown and containing Henry shooting gaps and making him an east west runner
