Orion Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 …......... Rush / G Pass / G Sack Run D / G Pass D / G Sack Give/Take Browns 177 1st 234 26th 26th 67 3rd 184 3rd 2nd -1 Chargers 108 16th 295 8th 6th 140 29th 193 5th 13th +3 And so we have the #1 rushing team against the #29 rush defense. With our pass offense being suspect, with a somewhat injured Baker, we'll need to be able to live up to those run stats. We'll want to shorten the game with long drives and try to keep the Chargers pass offense off the field. Our D stats are still skewed by the Bears game, but there's no denying that the D has played well over the past 2 games. The Chargers are pretty well balanced on offense. We'll need another good game from the D. This is a game with playoff implications. The Chargers might be in the mix for a wild card spot. And so could we. It would be awfully nice if we had the head to head tie breaker in our pocket. Quote
ATOM Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 looks like hudson may start at LT so like last week will will run to the right and baker had better get the ball out of his hand quickly cause i can see bosa destroying hudson side note : anyone here a thing about landry returning ? Quote

Eek on Hudson. Landry has to sit out 1 more game. This will be his 3rd on IR. He could return for the next one. Quote

gumby73 Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 Man! 🤓 This weeks panic reads fall under the same reads of last season when we traveled to Dallas & Tennessee... What happened? G.G.I.H.F. Go Get In His Face ! here's the Chargers O-line pass pro vs. Raiders.. Player Pass-Blocking Snaps Pressures Allowed Rashawn Slater (LT) 40 1 Matt Feiler (LG) 41 5* Corey Linsey (C) 41 2* (he's not Pouncey) Oday Aboushi (RG) 41 0 Storm Norton (RT) 41 6* the same OL weakness trend has been showing up in 4 games for the LAC... I found something odd, watching Raiders at LAC... The Raiders Maxx Crosby lined up at the start of game across from LT Rashawn Slater.. Within like, 6 starting snaps Crosby played against RT Storm Norton & never returned to matchup with Slater again... Like most browns gameplans reads this week.. The Browns should run the double headed monster playbook & reduce Herbert's offense from seeing the field at our time of possession.. Scoring twice early, will always tend to force a offensive panic. Can't wait to see the amount of browns fans in their House! I'd go right after attacking LG & RT in pass pro and exploit this weakness.. with Hands up in Herbert's passing windows too..tips happen to Herbert and he's been lucky that they've hit the ground so far..Replacement Center Corey Linsey, is a Malek walk back waiting to happen too..👀 Bosa vs. Leatherwood (now practicing at Guard this week).. Player Pass-Rushing Snaps Total Pressures Pass Rush Win % Joey Bosa 31 7 29% I can't see Joey, with any plant the flag acts? well maybe? if game calls for a defensive mo' change'rrrr Maxx Crosby (is having a great season) vs RT Norton Player Pass-Rushing Snaps Total Pressures Pass Rush Win % Maxx Crosby 32 5 21.9% No!, were not the Raiders of defense .. no, Were a Better defense! I'm just targeting the holes in the cheese.. that may give us the good start we just may need... We also carry 3 Large TE's on this roster... this is the week to get back to exploiting them... The Browns will win this game holding the under game total of 47... 1 1 Quote

The issue is, crowding the LOS. I think that early in the game you've got to, kind of, establish that you CAN pass.....just to keep everybody honest. I like that our double headed monster(s) are not on the field at the same time. While Chubb is working, Hunt is resting. Then Hunt comes in and Chubb rests. They're both really good...and they're both fresh-legs...all game long. 1 Quote
hx214 Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 Probably see a lot of 3 TE package off the bat. Give the rookie some help against that Bosa monster. 1 Quote

I agree, but for a D, it is much easier to shut down a run game than it is to shut down a passing game, so if the Chargers decided to shut down the run, they can do so. If i really though the opposing QB was gimped, I'd run a bear defense and just swamp the LOS and smother the runner or then just swamp the QB with pressure and at minimum hit him on nearly every play. Just tell the defensive players to play like a bunch of pissed off fire ants. Some of you northern friends might not know what I am talking about, and that is a good thing, but if you have ever stepped on a fire ant sand hill, you know exactly what I am talking about. It's not a good thing. Quote

Their rush defense hasn't really been that much of a factor. Quote
SdBacker80 Posted October 9, 2021 Report Posted October 9, 2021 Boy if there was a game that Baker would be amped up for - this is it. After Last weeks performance and taking on All World Justin Herbert (stock has never been higher. He’s a good one no doubt.) he Looks vulnerable like most QBs with Defensive Lineman in his face. I’d love to see a W. Lots of arrogance from the Charger fans. We will see if their run defense is fixed like they say it is. Apparently we haven’t played anybody or proven anything. They expect to outnumber Browns fan by a large margin. Last game out here against the Browns it was 50/50 at Qualcomm. Quote

Look for the TE's to have a busy day in the passing game. Hooper might get 12 targets. Quote

When l rewatched the Vikings game l tried to keep an eye on if there was an attempt to help out Hudson on the edge, and a fair amount of time there was. I noted some TE help, or the RB would shade his way if staying in to protect. I even recall one play where Teller pulled and went his way and effectively blocked the edge for that one play. But l do recall one play they left him alone on the island and he didn’t fare so well. Speed rushers are going to be an issue for Hudson until he can figure out when and how to engage them. Edit: A gimpy Wills was having issues with speed rushers too, so l’m not sure this is as monumental a change as we think. We might actually come out ahead in some regards as Hudson looked ok on running plays. Quote

We might actually come out ahead in some regards as Hudson looked ok on running plays. It's a fair point. As much as I'm worried about the tangible impact of his loss, I'm also concerned about the mental effect it generates. When Baker doesn't trust his protection he doesn't process information as well. He misses people, even when they're in front of him. He rushes and presses and we don't want that. So many people keep talking about how the Bolts can't stop the run and we're simply going to run it down their throat. I don't see that happening, not right away. When a team spends all week focusing on stopping something, they're going to be ready, and they're going to be ready because they don't believe Baker can beat them. Bolts will have 8 even 9 in the box at times and will basically tell Stefanski to let it rip down field and we're not changing until he hits a few and makes us pay. We're going to run the ball, but I'd be very surprised if we didn't have to loosen things up with the pass first. We'll see that TE screen several times, swings to the RBs, Hunt screen, Felton draw play, and then don't shocked if we run it on 3rd and 6-7 a few times. 1 Quote
