It mitigates the potential for dangerous side effects from contracting Covid. Everyone in a room could be vaccinated, asymptomatic carriers who become the chemistry set that creates the next strand of Covid that chugs along infecting more people. The framing for wanting people to get it should be based around mitigating individual health side effects and not that it can stop the spread. The CMS mandate has teeth, whereas the OSHA mandate is IMO going to be outright overturned in court. I can tell you that there are multiple units in all 3 of the major hospitals in Cleveland that are short staffed right now - nursing and all other ancillary staff (kitchen, janitors, etc). You can make more at McDonalds flipping burgers than you can as a medical assistant shoveling shit out of patient beds. I suspect that my capacity to deliver inpatient care will be affected when Uncle Sam says the admins have to fire these people now or face massive fines. There don't seem to be many people in the middle of this debate. Either the vaccine is going to kill us all or the covid is going to kill us all. Anecdotally I know quite a few people now who have had the vaccine and still got covid but in every case it's been reasonably mild. Ballpark of 4 days two or three of which sick enough to stay home.
