Hoorta feel free to add your 2 cents...which will be all it amounts to.

It's why I don't waste my time here much anymore, and I only rarely put in a post when I see the same old shit getting spewed.  Totally predictable. Cal still believing his election conspiracy crap a year later....  :D

I sure can afford to pay for gas.. You forget I used to be a moderate Republican until Trump hijacked the party. It's now the party of nutjobs like Gaetz, Greene, Bobert et al...  Cry me a river about that one... Economy coming out of covid and heating up = demand for gas is up. Like anything Biden did affected it's price.

A lot of good, decent mainstream republicans have the same feeling about Trump hijacking the party and now are torn on what to do about the "situation".  The leader of the January 6th invasion and desicration of our Capitol and it was live covered by every media outlet in the world 🌎.

What a mess for them.

Come on Larry... You mean to tell me people like Maxine Waters and Piglosi are sane?... Aren't these the two very same bitches that incited violence and riots throughout the nation? Where by innocent children and elderly got hurt and maimed... Businesses torn and burnt to the ground? If you support garbage like that... Then hereby you are just as guilty as BLM, Antifa and all of the other crack pot anti American hate groups that committed those crimes by supporting that bullshit. I used to be a Liberal ass hat until Obama and his cronies hooked up with George Soros to undermine the country and the constitution. They basically have sold this country out to the Chinese and LBGT community... I have nothing against Gays. But they are over stepping their boundries by more than a tad and trying like mad to abolish everything this country was founded on... The right to Worship God , The Pursuit of happiness and ones ability to protect a Man/Woman and their families... Even before I left the Democratic Party.. I believed in these very same things... I didn't change... But the party I once supported has changed... And NOT for the betterment of America and her citizens...

The Ohio senate seat is up for grabs with NO incumbent running.......it will get a lot of national attention !

You don't waste your time here because you can't defend the piece of shit you voted for. Everyone can see right through you. Even Woody's got more balls than you.

Biden's the president now, so g'head, crown his ass.

I sure can afford to pay for gas.. You forget I used to be a moderate Republican until Trump hijacked the party. Still reaching for that tired worn out song and dance "Trump hijacked the Rep party" excuse?  Right, because you can't defend Joey.

 Nice try you left wing nut job, but Trump is no longer president.

Yeah, Trump hijacked the party in one aspect only. This non-politician outsider kicked in the door of their clubhouse, took over and actually got shit done.

You so quickly forgot the Republican animosity, and shock, created when this outsider was elected. Lest we forget the Republican Never -Trumpers, the vileness of people like MCCain and Romney.  Most of these Rhinos actually believed, and some even hoped Trump colluded with the Russians. Did you forget that?

Because of decades of politicians lies, broken promises, and corruption, Americans for decades have longed for a non- politician.

But it was too late.

Due to the pussification of half this country by you touchy-feely liberals so mired in feelings, emotions, and anti-Americanism, American exceptionalism and putting America first is no longer important.  Under your guy Biden we now suck as a country, but that's Ok, at least we got rid of Trumps mean tweets..

And you guys are living in a state of delusion, thank you very much....  The Republicans under Orangie have fucked up the election process so badly, I'm afraid it can never be repaired. Just claim fraud for a damn year with no end in sight that doesn't stand up in court.

I watched just about all of the Republican candidate debates in 2016, as I was searching for a possible candidate to vote for (I was and still am anti-Hillary).

Your choice of the word charismatic is interesting. I found him rude, not able to "play nice with others" on the stage. Rubio seemed to make sense to me at times, Trump just crushed him with insults, Rubio didn't respond well to it at all.

And yes, I agree that the media went insane. When you call out Megyn Kelly, "bleeding from her eyes," well the media didn't stand for it, I believe she was well respected by her peers. . It was game on at that point, and the election was still a few months away (I think).

Despite that, I voted for him anyway in 2016, figured a businessman would be a good thing.

He had people do his school work at Warton to get his BS in economics...... that's it.  He's sealed all of his school records ALL of them.

Daddy gave him millions to get started, he's filed bankruptcy and basically is deep over his head in debt now.  Oh and from HIS ttax returns he does NOT pay any taxes.

Oct 1, 2020The New York Times' claim that President Donald Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017 is wrong, based on a flawed understanding of how taxes are paid. If the DC politicians can make more money outside of the government….then why do some of them remain in office for 40, 50, or years?

Then when they do retire, they are millionaires.

I've spent several decades in and around politics politicians and of course lawyers which a LOT of our higher level Congressman are......comes in handy in dealing with laws and the political environment.

A lot of the long timers and I've known quite a few are in two groups one that are just dedicated to being in public service and the second a group that like the benefits of that life.

Term limits have cut into that quite a bit there.....I basically don't like them because if you get a good congressman or whatever he's in and looking for what he's going to do after his term runs out.

Finances is a whole story into itself many candidates are successful lawyers before  they ever run for office  -but-  regardless if you need TV ads and a campaign chairman and staff it costs a fortune to run and that's from local office on up.

I've been a campaign chairman or co-chairman in races from board of education to councilman to judges to sheriff and even congressman.

I've also had a few friends and relatives who were in elective offices.  Do you know what a congressman makes ?  What it costs him to have two residences ? And his family expences many barely break even or lose money while in Washington.  Ask your local congressmen or women (House or Senate).

Well I've got to run but if you have any questions or comments just ask. mjp. "Michael"

Our govt being run largely by lawyers is part of our problem. They're trained to argue, not solve problems.

Also, term limits would be great. ...... really, why is that ???

Lawyers or attorneys or whatever you want to call them are an unusual bunch......I used to golf with a group of them every Friday at 5 pm.  And yes they are trained to know what is involved and what to do to win your case whether you're prosecuting or defending.

Right now I live across the street from the Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor.  Before I moved to Boardman I lived across the street from a Municipal court judge who was my one brother's godfather......no kidding, lifelong family friend.

And term limits two sides to that coin there it used to be some great ones you know the names  -but- some that just got into a position and nobody could vote them out.  Take your pick who you want.

I've seen terrible disruption since term limits have come about...... stagnation and no cooperation....... I don't like it one bit.  I miss some of those great old congressmen who got things done.

But that's just my humble opinion, naturally.  ;)

Education...... the 111th group, a bit dated but a good example.

The Congressional Research Service notes that the vast majority of Members (95 percent) had an academic degree:

  • 168 Representatives and 57 Senators had a law degree. Of these, five (three Representative and two Senators) also hold a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.
  • 83 Representatives and 16 Senators earned a master's degree – often a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) – as their highest educational degree
  • 27 Representatives and one Senator (Mark Begich)[18] have no educational degree beyond a high school diploma.
  • 23 Representatives, & two Senators (Kyrsten Sinema & Ben Sasse) have a PhD
  • 17 Representatives and three Senators have a medical degree (this number includes one Senator with a veterinary medicine degree and one Representative with a dental degree).
  • Five Representatives (but no Senators) have an associate's degree as their highest degree. One House Member has a licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.) degree.

Three Representatives (John Shimkus, Geoff Davis, Brett Guthrie) and one Senator (Jack Reed) are graduates of the United States Military Academy, while two Senators (John McCain, Jim Webb) and one Representative (Joe Sestak) are graduates of the United States Naval Academy. Three Senators (including Russ Feingold and Richard Lugar) and two Representatives (Jim Cooper and Jim Himes) were Rhodes Scholars, three Representatives (Tom Cole and Gabby Giffords) were Fulbright Scholars, and one Representative (John Spratt) was a Marshall Scholar. Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is widely considered to be the most educated member of congress with a Bachelor's degree, a Master of Social Work, a Master of Business Administration, a law degree, & a PhD. Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska is a Harvard, Oxford, and Yale-educated intellectual holding advanced liberal arts degrees in American History.

Education.....OK the 117th congress update...... The most common advanced degree MBAs   (just like my degree MBA in MGT and FIN -dual major-)

As has been true in recent Congresses, the vast majority of Members (93.8% of House Members
and 100% of Senators) at the beginning of the 117th Congress have earned at least a bachelor’s
degree. Sixty-seven percent of House Members and 76% of Senators hold educational degrees
beyond a bachelor’s.17 The CQ Member Profiles at the beginning of the 117th Congress indicate
the following:

 22 Members of the House have no educational degree beyond a high school
diploma or GED;
 5 Members of the House have associate’s degrees as their highest degrees;
 108 Members of the House and 18 Senators earned a master’s degree as their
highest attained degrees;
 144 Members of the House (32.7% of the House) and 50 Senators (50% of the
Senate) hold law degrees;
 22 Representatives and 4 Senators have doctoral (Ph.D., D.Phil., Ed.D., or
D. Min) degrees;
18 and
 20 Members of the House and 5 Senators have medical degrees.19
By comparison, 35 years ago in the 100th Congress (1987-1988), 85.5% of House Members and
89% of Senators held bachelor’s degrees. Forty-five years ago, in the 95th Congress (1977-1978),
82.7% of House Members and 87% of Senators held bachelor’s degrees. Sixty years ago, in the
87th Congress (1961-1962), 76% of House Members and 76% of Senators held bachelor’s
degrees.20
Three Representatives and one Senator are graduates of the U.S. Military Academy, five
Representatives and one Senator graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, one Representative
graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and one Senator graduated from the U.S. Merchant
Marine Academy. Five Representatives and one Senator were Rhodes Scholars, two
Representatives were Fulbright Scholars, two Representatives were Marshall Scholars, and two
Representatives and one Senator were Truman Scholars.21
