Louisville Slugger
I'd offer McDowell 1 or 2 year deal nothing crazy. Stewart, Hance, and Bell are guys I'd bring back for cheap competition. I would offer Hubbard a deal but I'm betting he's looking to start somewhere and get a bigger contract. Clowney played well this year so he's probably looking to get paid. I dont trust him to stay healthy so I'll pass.

Louisville Slugger
I hear ya guys. I'd like to have him back but there's no way I'd give him a long term deal. He's just too injury prone and I feel like we should be able to get a cheaper and more consistent alternative.

gumby73
PFF top 100 FA's.. Clowney just as our 1st round pick is lucky #13.. includes projected deals. that most take a 1 year deal.. Unsympathetic
Clowney is far better than anyone available in FA or at pick 13. I'm really not sure what player or players anyone seriously thinks would be a viable replacement for him. Jadeveon Clowney - Most Definitely David Njoku - Most Definitely M.J. Stewart - Most Definitely, PFF rating 80.8. I'd definitely rather have him and a mid-round draftpick [Yusuf Corker or RJ Roderick in the 5th?] than Harrison. Nick Mullens - Definitely Porter Gustin - Definitely [depending on other FA action] Michael Dunn - Definitely Blake Hance - Definitely if under 1m. Decent not great. D'ernest Johnson - Negotiate, see what he wants Ignore: Takkarist McKinley Malik Jackson Chris Hubbard Anthony Walker Jr. Rashard Higgins Malcolm Smith Dustin Colquitt Elijah Lee Ifeadi Odenigbo Ryan Switzer Dexter Williams Montrel Meander Stephen Carlson Ronnie Harrison Ja'Marcus Bradley Chase McLaughlin Malik McDowell
tiamat63
Re: Mcdowell - You can tell, especially by midseason, that his long term conditioning (that 16 game grind body) wasn't where it needed to be. The guy has been out of football for a while and the obvious effects presented themselves as things would drag on. A full offseason may do him a world of good and he was incredibly disruptive when fresh. I think to simply say "ignore" is unwise.
hx214
They need to dump Hooper and keep Njoku if they can. gumby73
MaYbe I should not have loaded this yesterday morning? 😮 DT upgrades.... Bengals BJ Hill... is another young consideration (Ogun also had a good season..sad he'll miss this week) INTERIOR DEFENDERS *D.J. Jones, San Francisco 49ers As if Jones’ regular season performance wasn’t strong enough heading into a crucial offseason, his 2022 playoff debut against the Dallas Cowboys put an exclamation point on his breakout campaign, as he recorded a huge 13-yard sack on quarterback Dak Prescott. Jones earned a career-high 73.2 grade for the 2021 season that illustrated why the 49ers made sure to sign him during the first week of free agency last offseason, and he’s played his way into a solid multi-year payday as a result. Jones accrued 40 defensive stops in 2021 after amassing 43 total in his first four seasons. His 14 tackles for loss or no gain in 2021 were second to only Aaron Donald among all interior defenders despite playing roughly half as many snaps as the Los Angeles Rams‘ phenom. Maliek Collins, Houston Texans Collins signed consecutive one-year deals for 2020 and 2021 and will now look to ink a multi-year deal while he's still young, as he will be 27 years old during Week 1 of the 2022 season. Collins earned a career-high 66.5 grade and continued to demonstrate his durability, as he played over 500 snaps for the sixth straight season. Collins always demonstrated upside as an interior pass-rusher, but his 61.8 run defense grade in 2021 was also a career-high despite playing on a defense tht lacked talent throughout the front seven. Collins doesn’t quit on any snap, and his tenacity in a losing situation was admirable. He can be a valuable asset for any team, even if he's not a true difference-maker. gumby73
bump time... NFL franchise tag window: Teams can start placing the franchise tag on players February 21 with a deadline of March 8 to tender said players. The NFL free-agent negotiating window opens on March 14 with a March 16 date for teams to be able to sign outside free agents. Franchise and transition tenders are calculated by adding the respective tag numbers, divided by the sum of the salary caps, from the previous five seasons, and finally multipled by the current season's salary cap. Franchise tag figures are based upon the top five salaries at each respective position, while transition tag figures are based on the top ten. The pay up or else keeps getting earlier and earlier. The installment plans keep getting worse by the year too... Used to be 5 pay, now it's apparently down to 2 payments. Or... Nah, I'm not making payments for the 2023 season starting in September of 2022. Looking at the blurb from WKYC, they're not dinging folks up in the nosebleeds nearly as bad as us denizens in the 100 level. They didn't publicly announce it, but I'm willing to bet the premium in between the 30s, 100 level seats are approaching $200 a ticket, if they're not already there. Not so long ago, that was Club Seat prices. For sure, those prices will keep the riffraff out of the preferred seating.

My thing is, the prices increased $300 on mine for 2021, so that's $500 increase in just two seasons (I have a pair of seats). To be fair (& it's hard given the economy, pandemic stuff we all went through) the Browns didn't jack up prices for quite a few seasons, probably because of a 38-122 record from 2008-2017. But please don't do it again anytime soon. One of my friends who moved here from Austin, Tx may have had a point. He told me our fan base is still snakebit from the 1995 move, and we are basically hostages to the team & NFL now. He also said Haslam could increase tickets $1000/season & we'd still pay it. Maybe he's right...just a different perspective on things.

Looked like he was shot out of a cannon at times for the Colts but consistently a step behind for us and I thought below average in pass coverage. Ronnie Harrison it could be argued pretty easily was our worst starter on defense last year. It was the stupid plays and penalties he made and the plays he didn’t make…one in particular there was a key 4th down play in the Charger game they are backed up in their own territory and the Chargers go for it…watch his run fill on the play.
