LAA 1-0  top 3rd.

LAA 4-1 final.  I was so glad to see " the man "  for the Guardians Jose Ramirez come through in the top of top of the 9th 1 on 1 out and get a big RBI on double to break up the shutout.   Hey only 10% of the season is in.....they are definitely young !

....... and no I didn't watch it all but saw the 8th & 9th.   😇

Game 20 - Friday April 29 -  First pitch  9:40 pm EDST.  CLE 7-12 L7  at  OAK 10-9.   Civale 0-2 versus Montas 2-2.

Civale the Guardians tough luck starter this year at 0-2.  Time to break up the L7 streak. Anyone staying up to watch the TRIBE ?   Regular time TR8BE ?

...... LAA 4-1 top 2.  CLE did have a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st.   

..... CLE are 0-10 against. 500+ teams in MLB,  worst in baseball  but they gave them 10 Ws when you look at it that way. Young team, close games. 

...... LAA 6-5 top 5.  But the Guardians got a GS HR !  WOO-HOO !

Game 1 of 4,  TOR (16-10]  at. CLE (10-12).   Berrios 2-0  versus  Civale 0-2.  Civale the Guardians hard luck loser so far this year.

...... TOR 2-0 bottom 3rd.  TOR scored two early in the 1st.

...... 2-2 bottom 3rd.  Steven Kwan first MLB HR !

...... CLE 6-2 end 5th.  Berrios is gone, Civale gets some run support  !

Last season the club postponed six home dates and had two more road dates rescheduled because of weather.

》 Right-hander Shane Bieber (1-1, 2.45) will face Toronto righty Kevin Gausman (2-1, 2.27) on Saturday in a 2:10 scheduled start.

》 The Game 2 pitching matchup features righty Triston McKenzie vs. Toronto right-hander Ross Stripling (0-0, 3.79).

I just saw the replay of the Guardians innings 9-10-11 wow.  CWS up 8-2 and then Naylor hits a GS HR and 3R HR and ends up with 8 RBIs.

I heard that he's either the first Indians/Guardians player  -or- MLB player ever to do that.   Whoa !

Wednesday May 11 -  CLE at WSX game -  postponed  -   COVID - 19.    UH-OH !  

I just got home from a doctor's appointment and found this out.  Saw -postponed-  on tv  and thought weather  ??  Not COVID-19. 

 

CHICAGO -- Wednesday’s series finale between the Guardians and White Sox has been postponed because of multiple positive COVID-19 tests among the Guardians’ traveling party.

The first news of the outbreak came when it was announced that manager Terry Francona tested positive and would not be able to manage Wednesday’s game. Also testing positive are bench coach DeMarlo Hale and other uniform personnel and traveling support staff. It was originally announced that Hale, the bench coach, would replace Francona to manage Wednesday’s game.

As of Tuesday morning, no Guardians players had been tested. Unless they show symptoms of COVID it’s unlikely they will be.

MLB announced the postponement this way:

“Following multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the Cleveland Guardians organization, their afternoon road game today vs. the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field has been postponed to allow for continued testing and contact tracing. Major League Baseball will provide a rescheduling update when it becomes available.”

Before Francona’s positive test was announced, the Guardians held a meeting about re-instituting their mask policy. It is known that a member of the traveling party was ill on Tuesday night and left the ballpark.

When Francona tested positive Wednesday morning, the organization began testing the rest of the coaching staff, uniformed personnel and support staff. They informed MLB and the decision was made to postpone the game.

A date for the Wednesday’s game to be replayed has not been announced. The Guardians are off Thursday and are scheduled to open a three-game series against the Twins on Friday at Target Field. The rotation for the Twins series will be Aaron Civale, Shane Bieber and Triston McKenzie. Civale was scheduled to start Wednesday.

It’s unclear who will manage the team in Minneapolis. It almost certainly won’t be Francona, Hale or any other coach who tested positive. They will probably return to Cleveland or at the very least be kept apart from the rest of the team until they have two negative tests.

Cleveland just rebounded from a COVID outbreak that put Cal Quantrill, Owen Miller, Anthony Castro and Yu Chang on the COVID injured list. Chang is the only player who has yet to be activated. He’s rehabbing at Class AAA Columbus.

The Bally Sports Great Lakes TV crew that does Guardians’ games are just recovering from a COVID outbreak that struck during the team’s recent West Coast trip.
