Return spealist Grant carted off today with possible torn Achilles.

This is a bummer.  I think we are okay with Felton- he’s obviously secure now.  I expect him to make a big leap from Year 1 and 2 as a pass catcher and a returner

so disappointed that/that was the only football link I'll read today 😪...  that just sucks..we just can't have nice things

I became a fan of J.Grant's play style, watching him play a preseason game against Cleveland vs. Miami a few years ago.I think Grant was a rookie back than? I can't blame Mike Priefer for putting a target on this guy 2 years ago

This loss should hopefully require Berry to jump past the UDFA WR market...

Wishing you the best of luck in your recovery Jakeem Grant.. 💪

As much as I like having Felton as a utility, there is no duplicating Jakeems acceleration and impact on the return game.  That's not including him having a role as a receiver and taking over that lateral threat on the jets we originally envisioned for Schwartz.

Field position will be huge for this team the first 6-8 games. This loss is bigger than most think.

It sucks!  That said, I like your thinking about Felton.

I remember the 1st time Josh Cribbs tried to return a punt when Northcutt was injured.  It didn't go well. The early conclusion after the growing pains was Northcutt wasn't replaceable in the return game.  We all know what happened when Northcutt departed.  The Browns upgraded the return game with Cribbs.

we did and I was not a northcutt fan…I thought he lacked basic football IQ meaning he did a lot of stupid things and his drops were killers (see the playoff game vs. Steelers).

I think I’m higher on Felton than most.  I watch a lot of late night PAC12 football and he impressed me at UCLA when they weren’t trying to run him between the tackles. He’s not a traditional running back in our scheme.

I think he benefits a lot arguably the most having professional QB play from guys like Watson and Brissett where the ball is out before the Break and in a spot where he’s not breaking stride.

Return game I’d be naive to think he would overshadow or be on par with a guy like Grant but the potential to get better is there.

I think it might be an ideal role to get Felton in open fields. He just needs the experience; and this is the time of year to get him the game day reps.

I was never a Northcutt fan either.  That said, he was very reliable as a punt returner.

This is why I suggested Jojo Natson.  He's a player that is a specialist at being a specialist.  He knows and understands all of the quirky rules involved in the return game(s).  And frankly, Felton & DPJ don't give me the warm fuzzies regarding the fielding of the football aspect.  It's hugely important to keep the field from flipping instantaneously.

So what WR or Back do you want to cut bringing Natson in…I think we need a PR/KR/WR.  Natson doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies playing WR

So Woods and Wims (both have done well thus far to the practice squad) to bring on a guy that will essentially just return kicks.

Just sayin'.  If ya need a returner, that guy did a nice job while he was with us.

At WR, right now, after Amari Cooper, nobody scares anyone.   DPJ had a good camp last year.  But when the starting corners trotted onto the field his production went down.  Schwartz is hurt a lot, Bell, a late third rounder, who knows what he'll be able to do.  Wims is a 7th rounder from 4 years ago who spent last year on the Raiders practice squad.  He looks good gettin' off the bus though.  Hopefully he breaks out.  Or somebody does.

Yes.. Jojo Natson does know the quirky rules in return games... But the Rams, cut Natson because he kept fumbling the ball on the turf..same here/than injured. Look at the ball on the ground stats of D.Felton...(4 or 5, we lucky recovered 2)  This is why DPJ still get's looks in the return game.. We need a WR4/5 with a return game.. Losing WR2 DPJ at any point this season becomes a real concern with this WR roster..

We've also seen D'E Johnson returning punts/KO's.. Jerome Ford ain't slow at 210lbs/ 40 of 4.46.. but he has no ST return stats in college

He was doing some Kick-offs.  Caught it nicely and kind of made a running play out of it.  Trying to set up blockers and follow little rays of daylight in different directions.  He wasn't gonna take it to the house but did a nice job.  Of course, trying to run any KO back can bring in the illegal block penalty that can put ya back inside the 10.

@Zombo Are you going to get away long enough, from your Lair of women massage table's and reveal Your Depth Chart thread?

Per the Browns website..

88 are on the active roster.. Count does not include Day/Ward/Grant/Weatherby on a injury status..

Leaving 3 that gotta go by this Tuesday... #1) should be easily moving Nick Harris to IR..  Any thoughts on the other 2 by Tuesday?

If roster status stays as is?

a) We won't keep 2 punters.. but that's not on cut #1

b.) imo, T Ben Petrula saw #3 reps that should fall under upgrade-able.. 👀

c.) I'm certain someone else saw a 2nd or 3rd rotten egg ?

#Browns will need to cut roster down from 90 to 85 by Tuesday.

The Browns do Practice today, Sun./Mon & Tues.(so matters may work it self out. Option #4.)

No Practice Weds. The Inter-squad with Philly is Closed to fans Thursday & Friday :mad:So if all goes well?

Whom ya got being cut? Team Cut's #1 on Tuesday 🤔

#1- IR Nick Harris

#2.

#3.

Injuries at center are what doomed this team and caused them to miss the wildcard in 2014.

(on top of Jim O Neil's awful coaching and designs)    There's just so much happening on both side of your in an outside zone running game.   If I'm remembering right, Mack broke his leg while on an outside zone call to Crow.

Either way, time to reach into the free agent pool or give Tretter a call.  Depth that can actually function has to be maintained and you're a play away from disaster at the moment.

As much as I would love to have JC Tretter at Center, I doubt that AB will make the call.

He’s a good player, but he has that stigma as Prez of the NFLPA.

Especially with the current DW drama dragging on.

That is an interesting angle regarding Tretter and the Browns.

Then again, if the Browns want Watson to play, perhaps getting the NFLPA President is exactly who you want on your side?

True, but I’m thinking of looking at it from Roger’s perspective.

At this point it’s all speculation, because I think Roger has already made up his mind.

I’m sure the other NFL owners want to hang Haslam from the highest tree.

I'll admit, them taking their sweet time announcing their new decision that has been in the bag from the second Goodell said "Uh, thanks but no thanks" to the six game original suspension is such sweet icing to this shit cake that's been baking since March 18th.

Ahh, 💩

An MRI confirmed #Browns C Dawson Deaton suffered a torn ACL in practice today, sources say. After Cleveland lost starter Nick Harris the other day, another player at the position goes down. Ethan Pocic and Brock Hoffman still standing, though.

Michael Dunn took some snaps at Center in last preseason games too..
AB knows where to find Bill Callahan.. I find nothing saying Tretter has even taken a team visit in 2022..
Looking a WR=PR/DT/ and now a Center...

Don't care if it Tretter or someone else, but we have a hole to plug at C. Time to use some of that cap space!

Love it how people print SB tickets soon as they hear Watson's name then realize shit.. It takes a whole team when you lose your starting then backup center lol...
