  • Westside Steve changed the title to Welcome New Browns Board Members

For those of you who don't know me I am one of the foundational members of this board coming over with our original group from AOL. I am a personal friend of the creator of all this, Stan Aten. I loved Stan and will never forget him. If we don't have a page of photos for all visitors to see, I hope to encourage such a page.

I have been known as Ghoolie here for over 20 years, another tribute to the great Ghoulardi. Another man I will never forget.

I have been a Browns fan my entire life, as were my parents, and pretty much everyone in my Youngstown, Ohio circle. There is no other football team that amounts to shit, In my day I was considered here as the most vicious of all Steeler antagonists. Now that the Browns are on the right path that spirit seems to be rising again.

Today I live in murderous Memphis, TN. I am self employed as an environmental engineer specializing in water purification, waste minimization, and resource recycling. (wateristhenewgold.com) I am a patent holder/inventor and serial entrepreneur. My brainchild and start-up, Glanris was featured in Barons three times this past year and our technology has a profound impact in removing carbon from the environment, cleaning water and strengthening asphalt. At 67, I can't believe I am still working, but there you have it.

In my private life I am an avid musician, playing about 30 instruments, was a successful studio owner and author with articles in most of the popular recording magazines and the #2 best selling recording industry reference book, at the time. (Make money with your studio, Tom Volinchak, Hal Leonard publisher). I compose and perform out a select few times per year but love meeting new players. I have a rescue pitbull and a rescue German Shepard. I am also a cigar afcianado with a popular tiktok page @cigarachi.

The wife is part owner of wealth management firm and chief compliance officer, hence we remain in Memphis. Oh yeah, we are blessed to be able to cruise 6x per year.

Looking forward to a Browns SB.

It's good to be back.

Hi Ghoolie I remember you just before you leftΒ  I thought that you might have gone to the same beautiful church as ours on Rayen Avenue.Β  My now late mother-in-law says she knew your parents dad was a church usher and mom made pyrogies in our hall across the street.Β  Sound familiar ?

Oh you were a Fitch guy I graduated from Niles McKinley and went to YSU the same time as you.Β  Β You graduated around 1974 +/- and i went full time YSU then went to work at US Steel on the West Side full time and graduated 1975.Β  MBA in 1985.Β  Any of this sound familiar ?

Unless it belongs in Ripley's Believe it or Not I do know you.....but I left out any personal details to be sure. Eh?Β  Does this sound right Tom ?Β  Β Michael,Β  mjp.Β Β

I thought so besides my late dear mother-in-law had an amazing memory and knew your parents a long time.

Now do you remember down YSU way Tony's Hideaway run by buddy Tony G.Β  -and-Β  the great "B-house" the Bavarian House owned and run by the late John Conti.....who later started the very successfulΒ  Inner Circle pizza joints.Β  I used to go over his house in the Brier Hill area in Youngstown when i was a kid..Β  Β Many long stories that you might know about.Β  Β Some great times back then.Β  Β

..... edit add, and I knew that sure as hell that you were a Uke too.Β Β

Altar Boy? No shit! Did you know the Melnick brothers? I imagined them ending up in jail someday.Β

Perhaps the most famous person who went to Holy Trinity... Pat Bilon.

Pat was my cousin. He was one joyous human being. He told me that several times he farted inside the ET costume and it lingered seemingly the entire shooting, LOL.

John, you made your own headaches bro. All you ever had to do was give me a holler. I never had the rage and contempt that you and Hoola Hoop Hoorta imagined.Β

In any case, we have a real team again, I am back to blasting the Steelers and honestly, missing all that goes with being a Browns fan in Ohio.Β

I remembered Pat and the wholeΒ ET storyΒ and all of that.

I also remembered Pat's mother MrsΒ  Bilon and the Hall across the street from the church and the CCD classes and other activities at the church.Β

And theΒ absoluteΒ Β BESTΒ pyrogiesΒ Β in Youngstown or anywhere loaded with the buttered onions.....Β Oh yeah !!!!Β  Β And the fundraising activities to buy and build St Anne's church in Austintown,Β  OhioΒ  led by none other thanΒ Monsignor Adamyak ......and later not to be confused with Monsignor Dark Vader.Β Β Β When you were about 10 years old you knew when he was in the room.

Oh yeah Holy Trinity Church on Rayen Avenue year roundΒ  especially in the cold snowy winters in the 1950s and 1960s,Β  quite a memory growing up then.Β  Β And I can just taste the pyrogies right now !!!Β

When someone asks you, "why are you a Browns fan?" Please feel free to use these.

1) Because fuck you

2) Because suck my dickΒ

And my favorite

3) Because fuck your Mother

I'm guessing all of our church goers in the house would like to thank Reverend Ghoolie for the nice warm up to mass today.Β

Now a piece of advice before the Bills warn the Browns to give their souls to God because their quitting asses belong to Buffalo for 60 minutes.Β  That 60 minutes doesn't sound long until we watch the sum of overpaid knuckleheads refusing to join the efforts of Nick Chubb and a few others for a period of 3 hours.Β  I used to joke I'm so slow it takes me 3 hours to watch 60 Minutes.Β  The sad thing is that would make me the smartest guy in our secondary.Β  Our 2 FO guys are from Harvard and they couldn't be more Legally Blind if they tried.Β  Doesn't matter though; Haslam Jimmy has that same trust in them that Julius Caesar had in Brutus and Cassius.Β  Since it's the Sunday before Thanksgiving, I'm holding out hope that Jesus takes the wheel from Legally Blind today and the players suddenly play like their are saving their alleged DREAM careers.Β  That said, I probably have a better chance at winning the next lottery.

One of your recent posts said you were going on a cruise; so let's be serious and stay off Sirius today.Β  Why cram needles in your eyes or knives in your ears for 3 hours thinking you're gonna get anything better than a very brief tease this team wants to win?Β  Quitters quit and winners win!Β  Enjoy the time with your wife in the tropics today. You don't even have to thank me later for the free advice.Β Β

Epic stuff!Β  This could be a very good sitcom.Β  Eddie Haskell would have been boring compared to you.

Let me see if I can summarize the younger, kinder, gentler Ghoolie.Β  In between Sundays, he needed to make sure he committed enough sins to go to confession.Β  That being the case, he gently took 1 lunchbox a day from another kid at the bus stop while politely rotating different kids on different days.Β  Just so other kids didn't feel left out, he took lunch money from the richer kids to make the less fortunate feel more fortunate.Β  If anyone wore any Pittsburgh Steeler stuff, he made sure they were the first ones to hear "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SANTA CLAUS YOU FOCKTARDS!"Β  Β For what it's worth, I just learned that 2 years ago and I'm still having trouble getting over it.Β

And of course it's up toΒ TBB StaffΒ Β to encourage and monitor the growth and health of the board.

Now it would also help if our Cleveland Browns could put a good team on the field to keep things moving along.

You are right Flugs this is some epic stuff between heaven and earth alright.Β  Β And a very ahhhh interesting sitcom indeed.Β  Those were some very memorable days for those of us that were there for the late 50s and into the mid and late 60s when theΒ new St. Anne's churchΒ in Austintown began mass in 1966.Β  Β They also went on to have a very fine grades 1-8 school, (1966-2005).Β  Β Holy TrinityΒ certainly did grow.Β  Β And now with the decline in population and schools in the valley did decline to just Holy Trinity and St Anne's churches now.Β

During the growth periods they still had theΒ bestΒ pyrogies ever, some good festivals, Rose Lake,Β  of course BINGO, and other church activities.Β

That indeed would be an interesting American sitcom.

β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎  Β β™₯︎  Β β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎~β–ͺ︎

Just for you Holy Trinity and St Anne's church historians here the church acquired the Rose Lake property in the 1960s and had the first mass in 1966 in which the parishioners were split a bit for territories.Β  We had 5 boys 3 Holy Trinity and the youngest 2 were St Anne's which could be confusing.Β Β

Ironically and before I ever knew my wife she and her parents now went to St Anne's.Β  When her dad retired from US Steel with 40 years in maintenance he became the janitor and super supreme handyman for 13 years at St Anne's.Β  I also worked with him my last 6 years at USS as a maintenance foreman with him, an outstanding electrical, foreman.Β  Β Yes I knew him BEFORE I ever met his youngest daughter all by coincidence.Β
