DieHardBrownsFan
That's the decision that really disturbs me. Ratliff doesn't even belong on an NFL roster at this point. I could understand a QB-starved team stashing him on the PS.... but keeping him while cutting Bartel, who is clearly more "ready" at this point, just screams of Mangini being a stubborn asshole... to the detriment of the team. And it wouldn't surprise me if a player or two saw it that way as well, and they just think "blah, blah, Blow it out your ass" whenever Mangini tries to give some motivational "do it for the team" bullshit to them. Players are paid to play. If they don't want to perform or do what the coach says, then get the xxxx off the team and sell cars for a living. All i can say is the 3rd guy is maybe here more for what his future holds v what he is doing right now. I thought Bartel looked better as well, but am not going to sweat it much because if we are reduced to giving the 3rd guy significant snaps, the season is long gone. PlaygroundLegend
I think we are keeping Ratliff as our 3rd because he is more of a physical specimine and has a higher ceiling than Bartel. Plus he has shown that he has been better than he played this summer, plus he was part of a draft trade so we need to attempt to develop him

RoethlisbergerFumbles!
or Is the second one too gruesome? Should I stick with the stretched neck? I favor the 2nd one! It looks like Rogers is going to toss his head now.

Riffer X
Playground legend, for God's sake take down that half of your sig. Hubbard is gone and Rucker is 3rd string and Robiskie is nowhere near starting....oh yeah and Tucker is gone. Oh come on, leave ole Glue Hands up there, that shit was highsterical. Gotta admit, I doubted my instincts for a day or two when everyone was proclaiming Hubbard the next Al Toon the first day of camp, but then I went to camp and promptly watched him drop two off the bat. PL was funny too when he came in proclaiming " I told you guys, there was a reason I have Hubsy in my sig, he's gonna be a bitch." LMAO, if you can't catch a football, run a route or know the game at all by the age of 20, you never will.
Guest Masters
if you can't catch a football, run a route or know the game at all by the age of 20, you never will. I'd say that is true for any guy who has been playing since HS. But in the case of Hubbard, the guy never played football until he was in college. I can also think of a guy who couldn't run routes or catch that both played for the Browns at one time, Keenan McCardell. Now I am not saying Hubbard will ever develope, but it has to be kept in perspective that he was a track guy who was turned into a football player at the age of 18/19. So it's not like this guy has been drilled on the fundementals for the last 10 years.
Guest AdaM
I'll admit I was hoping that Hubbard would "get it" this year, the guy is a physical freak with all the gifts you would want in a WR. He just couldn't put it all together. Probably played soccer as a kid....

We've had this discussion before, but how many years do you plan on waiting for the kid to see if he can ever figure out how to walk and chew gum at the same time? It's the NFL, you need to be ready to play or at least just in need of ironing out some rough edges. The fact that he was still eligible for one more PS year and they chose Leggett says a lot. Basically, he may have beat out one WR in camp and that was Norwood. Dude is just a suckass football player, period. I'll never forget the time he he jumped for a ball at his waste, and then promptly whiffed at the ball with his arms. The worst part was that it was a Dorster soft toss from about ten yards away, just hanging there. I'll give the dude one thing, he brought some good laughs to me and a buddy of mine. I kinda have an idea what Usain Bolt would look like now. BTW, I don't ever remotely recall McCardell being in the same universe as Glue Hands as far as general suckitude. Guest Masters
Like I said Riffer, I am not saying the guy will ever develope. I just don't see the need to bash the guy for fundementals he started learning a lot later than most. It's not really fair to expect from Hubbard what one would expect from a college WR coming out who has been playing football since he was 10 years old. Personally I think he should not have been drafted by anyone and is a guy that should have been grabbed as a UDFA, then given the realistic time to develope. CLE was probably not the right place for that.

Look what we have this year with our 6th rounders, two guys in Francies and Davis that are looking damn good. Plus, if they wouldn't have screwed up with Carey it could have been 3 contributors in round 6. Phillip just outsmarted himself. The writing was on the wall the kid couldn't catch. That's another thing, I am beyond sick and tired of guys getting drafted by this team that can't catch and it was known coming in. Glue Hands had it written all over him from scouting reports. He was the last straw of shit draft picks on WR's for me. Now it looks like they got it right. We'll have a good time talking shit over this Saturday if you're still coming BTW. Drunkandstoopid
If Quinn wins 10 games in his first full season of starts and ends the season with an 84 passer's rating, he's doing all right, and anyone who says he needs to go is an idiot. OconRecon
Email from Terry Pluto this a.m. ===== I have not been hung up on the starting QB biz because I have believed (and have wrote and said) for months it was Quinn. Just fits Mangini's approach, and I believe they have been getting him ready. take care, terry ===== Interesting how his feel is its been Quinn all long and his prep is fine. (I posted it on another thread too, but felt it was relevant here).
