As you have heard me bitch about in the last few years,  Wokeness has taken most of the fun out of Oscar season. A film can absolutely be woke and great. On the other hand a woke film can also be garbage and still be nominated.

As usual my predictions come from a variety of indicators; oddsmakers, theatrical organizations, buzz and wishful thinking. Don’t bet anything you can’t afford to lose. It’s early so things could change quickly.

Best supporting actress

Favorite: Angela Bassett for “WOKE ANDA.”

Long shot: Kelly Condon INISHERIN

Mu pick: I recuse myself I didn’t see the new BLACKPANTHER movie.

Best supporting actor:

Favorite: Ke Huy Quan For EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE.

Long shot: Barry Keoghan INISHERIN

My pick: Brandon Gleason INISHERIN

Best actress:

Favorite: Michelle Yeoh EVERYTHING

Long shot and my pick: Cate Blanchett TAR

Best actor:

Favorite: Brandan Frazier THE WHALE

Long shot:  Austin Butler ELVIS

My pick, either of the 1^st two or even Colin Ferrell.

Best director: Daniel Kwan EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

Long shot:  Steven Spielberg THE FABLEMANS.

My pick: Anybody not named Daniel Kwan?

Best Picture:

Favorite: EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

Long shot: INISHERIN

My pick: TOP GUN MAVERICK
