TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (WKBN) – The Board of Trustees at the University of Alabama approved the contracts of several football coaches Monday afternoon, including former Youngstown State University head coach Eric Wolford.

The Crimson Tide’s offensive line coach received a contract extension through 2025 worth $925,000 per season, according to Nick Kelly from TuscaloosaNews.com.

Wolford joined the staff at Alabama in 2022. He served as the head football coach at YSU from 2010 to 2014. Over that five-year span, Wolford was 31-26 with the Penguins.

~ AND  ~  In a first for me  NIT !   But not in NYC ?

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The historic Youngstown State men’s basketball season is not over just yet, after the Penguins officially accepted a bid to the 2023 National Invitation Tournament.

The 24-9 YSU team will host Oklahoma State, for the first round matchup at Beeghly Center on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Oklahoma State, which is a No. 1 seed in the NIT, is currently hosting the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Tulsa. As a result, their athletic department did not put in a bid to host an NIT game.

★  Games in the NIT are played at the higher seed’s home court until the semifinals and championship game in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If the Penguins win, they will add to the school record for most wins in a season and advance to the Second Round on March 18-19 to face to winner of 4-seed Washington State and Eastern Washington.

During the record-breaking season for Youngstown State, the Jerrod Calhoun-led bunch won the program’s first ever Horizon League regular season title and set the new mark for wins in a single-season.
