Maybe he thinks those would have been better to keep rather than having to fight a war, fought by Western soldiers..... so, surrendering would have stopped all the rape, torture, murder, genocide from happening? no. Iraqis "surrendered" to an evil government. Did the rape, torture, murder stop? NO. In this world, if a nation will not fight for principles, they will be raped, tortured, murdered by those with no principles. Ignoring that, like the U.S. did before WWI, and WWII, let those world wars grow into gigantic proportions, until we had no choice but to intervene. But the cost was tragically high. So sad. Giving up some land to Russia would possibly end it? I don't think so. Despite the breakup of the Soviet Union, Russia didn't merely say "bye, bye Ukraine, have a nice country" eventually regaining control of the Ukraine had always been Putins main objective. He now has concocted enough "reasons" to make the move. Putin sent 200K troops into Ukraine confident of taking control of the government in a matter of days.
