American society has an unfortunate tendency to focus on a single person. Even if there is no one in that particular chair things are probably going to go along fine. Or as well as can be expected. the responsibility would fall to the second in command or in charge and we shouldn't assume that that person is an idiot or incapable. Next man up. Probably better not to have one than to have a bad one even though that's not necessarily what I'm suggesting that Biden will appoint. Still to be honest I fear that he would prioritize a woke agenda over a strong military background. This entire dust up is meant solely for show as are the arguments for and against. It's political.
