★ College players, particularly hitters, are the strength of this draft. Here’s a look at some of the top players who will be available to the Guardians with the No. 1 pick.

1. OF Charlie Condon, Georgia

★ The skinny: Condon is hitting .450 (90 for 200) with 18 doubles, 34 homers and 72 RBI in 52 games. He has some swing-and-miss in his game, but for the Bulldogs he’s walked 50 times and struck out 38. On Friday he extended his hitting streak to 23 straight games against Florida.

Condon, a red-shirt sophomore, is a 6-6, right-handed hitter who weighs 216 pounds. He has played a variety of different positions, the corner outfield spots and third base.

Bazzana, who played cricket in high school, went 4 for 9 Thursday and Friday against Arizona with four doubles. He’s stolen 14 bases in 19 attempts this season.

3. 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone, Florida

★ The skinny: The 6-foot-5 Caglianone is a left-handed hitter and pitcher for the Gators. In 53 games, he’s hitting .419 (85 for 203) with four doubles, 28 homers and 56 RBI. He’s struck out 20 times, while walking 40 times.

Gaglianone is 5-1 with a 4.07 ERA in 12 starts on the mound. He’s struck out 66, walked 40 and the opposition is hitting .214 against him. In his last start on May 12, he allowed three runs, one earned, in 6 1/3 innings in a 16-3 loss to Tennessee.

On Thursday and Friday he went 3 for 7 against Georgia. In the pros, it’s believed Gaglianone will concentrate on hitting.

On Friday, he struck out 13 in seven innings in a 2-1 loss to North Carolina. He allowed five hits and one earned run in the no-decision. Burns, 6-5, 195 pounds, transferred from Tennessee to Wake Forest at the end of the 2023 season.

5. OF Braden Montgomery, Texas A&M. (S/H)

The skinny: In 54 games the switch-hitting Montgomery is batting .329 (68 for 207) with 14 doubles, 25 homers and 79 RBI. He’s struck out 54 times and drawn 51 walks.

Montgomery, as a freshman at Stanford, pitched as well, but he’s only made one appearance this year. On Thursday and Friday, he went 2 for 9 against Arkansas with a homer.

6. LHP Hagen Smith, (9-0) 1.52 ERA, Arkansas

The skinny: Smith, 6-3, 215 pounds, is 9-0 with a 1.52 ERA (13 earned runs in 77 innings) in 14 starts. He has 150 strikeouts, 29 walks and the opposition is hitting .135.against him.
