MLD Woody Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Do we go full blown rebuilding and trade Garrett for a king's ransom to Detroit? Quote

bbedward Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 It depends on how long their rebuild forecast is. If it’s > 2 years to contend again then it’s worth getting offers Quote

calfoxwc Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 A. NO, you don't trade him, that would be taking one step forward and two or ...more steps backwards. B. Yes, you trade him if HE WANTS out to go to a team that has terrific management and has a great chance to get to the superbowl. like any playoff caliber team. Players who want to WIN get tired of getting stuck in the mire of losing. The Browns had so freaking much talent...... and they screwed it up with one stupid, worst in history? trade. Quote
Dutch Oven Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Someone offers two first rounders? I’d have to consider it. He’s still a fantastic player, but next season will be his ninth, and he’s never struck me as a “you’ll have to tear the uniform off me before I retire” type guy. Quote

When Baker was here all you did was cry about how little talent he had around him. 😂 1 Quote

He definitely seems like he'll have a fulfilling life after football doing whatever the hell he feels like. So I agree, he's probably not playing for a super long time. Maybe not full Calvin Johnson Quote

nickers Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Yeah , Trade his ass... He doesn't impact the team anyhow... 1 Quote

D Bone Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Yes, I would trade him. This current team is over. Done. Kaput... time to give the next future former regime some capital to completely fucking squander. 3 Quote
Ibleedbrown Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 For gits and shiggles l looked up the NFL career record on sacks and it’s Bruce Smith with 200. Myles has 92.5. My thinking was that if he had a shot at it, it might be cool to see him get it as a Brown. I’m not sure he’ll get that one though. It’s definitely been fun watching him. He simply does football things that other guys can’t do. But pretty easy at this point to recognize the back nine of his career and let him chase a ring before it’s too late. Quote

7moses7 Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Trade Garrett and anyone else who has value, this team isn’t winning and won’t be any time soon. Stockpile picks, move to Brookpark . Quote

Bob806 Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Good question, I wouldn't trade him though unless they got an offer they couldn't refuse. Garrett hasn't ever complained. He seems to like it here in Cleveland. He's probably a good leader in the locker room. When you have a player like that, you keep him & build around him. I do think the Browns have tried to do that, Clowny & Zadarius Smith come to mind. It's so strange when you think about this Browns timeline since the 4-40-1 disaster. They became a good team in 2018, fell flat in 2019 ( should have kept Gregg Williams, in hindsight), rebounded again in 2020, fell back in 2021/22 but 2023 was awesome. All the good vibes are gone now. I don't think the fans could handle a Garrett or Chubb trade. Don't do it Jimmy. 2 Quote

Korsou Dawg Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 He is probably the only player who we could get a 1st for, and at the latter stage of his career. If we are rebuilding, then yes, you'd have to. Quote

However I don't think they'll receive and offer they can't refuse. Would have to be something like a 1st round plus other another high round pick. 1 Quote
tiamat63 Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Garrett has been the best defensive player the Browns have had since 99' and it really isn't all that close. On top of that, you don't hear a bad word about him in the news. He works hard, by all accounts is great in the locker room, great in the community (he passes out a ton of candy for Halloween, the clips from the kids trick or treating are always sweet) and is well spoken for the media. These are the types of players fans make connections with. So it's difficult seeing them go. On the flip side, speaking long term and removing that emotional connection, if you get an offer you can't ignore and the intent is to rebuild around a young QB, then you have to entertain said offer. This defense has been built around a few things. But one of them has been to pair it with an offense that can put points up so they can play more opportunistic, aggressively pursuing turnovers. That hasn't materialized for multiple reasons (the obvious being Watson) Regardless of those reasons, you can limp to the finish line or give a merciful ending to this season early, amass draft capital and come out swinging like Houston did in the 2023 draft. The downside is the likelihood you lose a good coach along the way in Stefanski in favor of the great unknown. Because Lord knows Haslam and Berry aren't about to admit they've orchestrated the situation by handing their coaches a roster filled personnel problems. 1 Quote
Axe Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 All I can say is 1) I purchased NFL ticket or what ever it's called this year for one reason.. To see my Browns. I'm out of market.. And considering that the powers to be in the Browns organization have clearly bailed on this season less than half way thru. I'm sorry I did.. 2) I'll be shocked if Garrett is a Brown at season's end. And 3) I have zero confidence in the present Browns ownership/management structure's ability to parlay the trade of the their two crown jewels in to anything north of a cup o shit.. Having said all of that, I'll probably re up next year.😬 Yes I have a problem I think the Browns should initiate an "I need help" call center similar to those for AA and gambling issues. 1 2 Quote

Of course you know who will be answering those calls, right? None other than Lucy (that will be 5 cents please) Van Pelt.🤣 All you have to do in return is kick the first ball of the season off for her next year.😁👍 Quote
