plumcrazy73
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-it-to-january/ Speculation commences that Mangini won't make it to January Posted by Mike Florio on September 27, 2009 7:59 PM ET Last year, Browns owner Randy Lerner fired coach Romeo Crennel and G.M. Phil Savage, only a year after giving each of them contract extensions. Now, with the Browns at 0-3 and coach Eric Mangini in the eye of a storm of criticism and grievances, some league insiders openly are expressing concern that Mangini won't make it through the end of the season. If so, Mangini possibly would be the only head coach fired by two different NFL teams in less than a year. Butch Davis resigned after 11 games in 2004. In all, the Browns have had five head coaches (permanent and interim) in the decade since they have returned to the league. UPDATE: As a reader points out, Ray Rhodes was fired by the Eagles after the 1998 season, and then by the Packers after the 1999 season.
Gips
Lerner may try to cover his own rump again by firing mangini which would be a good start but fans need to realize lerner is running the show and meddling in things he knows little about it is really time to take the bull by the horns and get our team and traditions back before all is lost...and if we lose the fight and the current team leaves we havent lost the real browns they have been dead since 1996 the people of cleveland spent millions for a team that doesnt represent true cleveland browns football and traditions could it get any worse... ClevelandFanForLife
lerner is such a cheap ass that he may not want to fire mangina and take a hit by paying him for the remainder of his contract.
osusev
IF Mangini is fired this year that would be disastrous for us.... He has changed too much in terms of personnel right now and would like to see at least next year what this team looks like. Yes we suck BUT 4-12 last year this is not exactly a shock.... Yes we suck BUT 4-12 last year this is not exactly a shock.... i agree about the disaster that would arise if he was fired and agree to an extent about our record. we knew that we weren't going to the superbowl this year, but nobody expected us to be this bad. we have one offensive touchdown through three games and can barely get passed the 50 yard line. we look awful. look for mangina to start dealing some "talent" for more draft picks. braylon, one of the quarterbacks, and maybe some guys on defense will not be here after the trade deadline. pl4tinum
I think talking about firing him already is silly. It can't get much worse than this now, so may as well ride it out until at least the end of the year. If we go worse than 4-12 then maybe you fire him. Yes we suck BUT 4-12 last year this is not exactly a shock.... umm ... no offensive touchdowns even with healthy personnels and an easier schedule, the QB carousel is back again, rumors of players quitting, QB sneak on first down, a wild cat offense that is not wild ... and this is not a shock ? how many of u guys guessed that before the beginning of the season ? razor1414
Does anyone think that RAC is sitting at his house eating cheetos laughing his ass off right now?
RedDawg
I think Lerner should take the approach that the dolphins organization took. They realized they weren't football guys, so they hired the Tuna to manage those operations. There are maybe 3 men in the league we could bring in to straighten up the ship. However I don't think Lerner would do it short of 2 seasons.
