Report: Pats Release Joey Galloway

Less than two days after unleashing an aerial assault on the Titans, the Patriots have decided that Joey Galloway is an unnecessary part of their roster and, according to Adam Schefter, both on my teevee and Twitter, released him.

Galloway for the season has a stunningly weak six catches for 67 yards and hasn't played in a Pats game since Week 3. Additionally, when Galloway was on the field, there was an obvious disconnect between he and Tom Brady, who didn't seem to care for the receivers inability to stretch the field for Wes Welker and Randy Moss (which is what, theoretically, he was brought in to do).

As Schefter points out, Galloway is free to sign with another team, which is good news for the receiver who, despite being bumped from both the Bucs and Pats in the last few months, still has enough speed and talent to make him a viable second or third wideout for a playoff contending team.

Of course, he also lost out on a free trip to London as a result of the move, which might mean that Bill Belichick and Co. simply decided that his production didn't outweigh whatever travel costs he was going to incur.

Nah he's done.

Makes no sense for us, he'd take routes away from the young guys that we need to improve.

This season is a wash. At least let the Rookies play and get their lumps out of the way. Why waste it with another old guy that isn't going to be around long.

Although they could pick him up, let the passes bounce off his hands to, then we could all complain that he was washed up and we never should have got him in the first place.

No..No..and again No.. why do we want to bring in old over-the-hill bastages to take time from our young guys learning. We have a recievers coach..let him do his job.. Why does everyone think a player can coach better than a coach.. even when the player has never been a coach.. There is a reason no one has hired jerry rice or chris carter or sterling sharpe..THEY ARE NOT COACHES!!! neither is Galloway

I don't think the Browns can afford to give up what Carolina would even want for him if they were willing to entertain offers.

I don't think Steve Smith has any desire to play for Cleveland. We might be the only offense in the league more inept than Carolina. If he wants to get balls thrown behind him and chase defenders after INTs he can stay in Carolina and do that.
