The Cleveland Browns today signed tight end Colin Cloherty to the practice squad, the club announced. He replaces Phil Trautwein, who today was signed to St. Louis’ 53-man roster.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts on April 30, 2009, Cloherty was released from the Colts’ practice squad on September 29.

A three-year letterman at Brown University, Cloherty appeared in 30 games during his collegiate career, registering 99 receptions for 1,211 yards with nine touchdowns. As a junior, he recorded career-highs with 41 receptions for 549 yards and two touchdowns, as he earned second-team All-Ivy League honors. A native of Bethesda, Md., the 6-2, 245-pound Cloherty attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C.
