The Gipper
Here are a few factoids for your consideration. Just random things I have been looking up: 1. Cities that have won Big Four titles in the 2000s (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL): New York, LA/Anaheim, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, San Antonio, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Raleigh, Miami, Chicago, Tampa, Phoenix, Baltimore, Denver. That is only 16 cities to win for the as yet 39 contested titles this decade, with only 1 more title yet to go (2009 NFL) FYI, there are 45 major league cities vying for those various titles. 2. Franchises in those Big Four sports that have gone the longest to date without a title: MLB: Chicago Cubs 1908 (101 years) NFL: Arizona Cardinals 1947 (as Chicago Cardinals...(62 years) NBA: Sacramento Kings 1951 (as Rochester Royals) (58 years) NHL: Chicago Blackhawks 1961 (maybe its a good thing the Cards moved, or Chicago could have nearly swept this category) 3. Here is a rundown of the number of Championship games each current NFL franchise has played in. This includes Super Bowls, NFL title games (pre SB), AFL and AAFC title games: Giants 18 (6-12) Browns 13 (8-5) Packers 12 (9-3) Bears 11 (7-4) Redskins 10 (5-5) Rams 8 (3-5) Cowboys 8 (5-3) Steelers 7 (6-1) Patriots 7 (3-4) Eagles 6 (3-3) 49ers 6 (5-1) Colts 6 (4-2) Chargers 6 (1-5) Bills 6 (2-4) Dolphins 6 (2-4) Broncos 6 (2-4) Lions 5 (4-1) Raiders 5 (3-2) Oilers/Titans 4 (2-2) Vikings 4 (0-4) Cardinals 3 (1-2) Chiefs/Texans 3 (2-1) Bengals 2 (0-2) Jets 1 (1-0) Falcons 1 (0-1) Ravens 1 (1-0) Buccaneers 1 (1-0) Panthers 1 (0-1) Seahawks 1 (0-1)
