Charlie Weis ready to save Cleveland Browns' offense?

By Mark J. Miller

“CharlieYesterday it was the Chicago Bears. Today it is the Cleveland Browns. Charlie Weis is going to save somebody. And he surely hopes he can save himself.

After doing some serious damage to his offensive-genius street cred while "leading" Notre Dame to some pitiful losses the last couple of years, Charlie Weis is a free man and he wants to redeem himself with an NFL team. The word yesterday was that six teams had already contacted him about being offensive coordinator for them.

Now ProFootballTalk is reporting that Weis could end up as offensive coordinator in Cleveland after the team chucks head coach Eric Mangini under the bus. This would reunite him with quarterback Brady Quinn(notes), who he coached at Notre Dame. It is rumored that Weis met over the weekend with Browns owner Randy Lerner, who was towing Bernie Kosar along with him.

Tune in tomorrow when Weis will be connected to another team.

I've been saying that'll be Parcells and Weis brought in and we'll keep Mangini for a few weeks now.

Imagine if we had the offensive mind of Weis now? Even with this piss poor offense, we'd be able to put up some points.
