When you compare the Steelers to the Browns if the Steelers play to half of their potential the Browns simply don't have the talent to hang with them. Why the Steelers couldn't play to even half their potential is a much bigger question then how the Browns won their second game of the season.(Though this probably isn't true with Browns fans) It also has to do with ratings. Gearing the segment toward the Steelers would attract more attention then anything about the Browns.

You're right about the ratings part...absolutely. More bandwagon fans=more ratings. But the Browns got up for this game...they REALLY got up for it. The corners covered and the pressure got to Ben. If the Browns draft correctly in April we could be a young talented team and then maybe the media will give us the respect we deserve, but when you beat your rival for the first time since 2003 of COURSE we aren't going to get respect. It is a step in the right direction up a steep steep mountain, and at the top is the respectability that this franchise deserves. Sure the Steelers did a lot wrong in that game, but the Browns also did a lot right...hate to see that overlooked

You're right Kathy.

I've been watching that show and it seemed like they were commenting an asteroid falling on the earth, rather than a well played game but a struggling but improving NFL team.

IF the Steeler hadn't already Lost to KC and Oakland ...I would agree with you. But the Big Story is the Crashing to Earth of The Steelers. Thruth be told.... The Steelers have been in "Party" Mode for nearly 10 months now , and THAT is the Biggest reason they are where they are. I will be interested to see if any of this comes out. By the way very little evidence that the Browns are an "Improving NFL Team" Just yet. Except I do agree that the DEFENSE is making strides ...We will see though. You very well may be right... but No Body of work points to that yet.

Well, I think you lack a certain knowledge about NFL football. The reason they say that "On Any Given Sunday" (or Thursday night?) any NFL team can beat any other NFL team, is because it is true. Because the talent difference between the best teams and the worst teams is in reality a razor thin edge....and if the best team is off its edge, it can get beat by the worst team. The talent difference comes down perhaps to 2-3-4 quality players. It is also highly mental. If the team with the slightly superior talent act like a bunch of pussies afraid of the cold, they are going to lose to the team with the slightly inferior talent. And that really is the only difference between the Steelers and Browns, 1-2-3 players. Maybe a Polamalu, or a Hines Ward is all that really separates the talent edge between the Steelers and Browns. (And up to now, it has really been more of a mental edge, not a talent edge).

And the reason they focus that segment on the Steelers has nothing to do with ratings, but has everything to do with how the defending Super Bowl Champs have taken a dive and lose to a 1-11 team, plus those other losses to teams with poor records. It ain't ratings, its just "the story".

I tend to agree with what you say. The Big Story is the Steelers "choke job"? I mean, they lost one or two players and they fall apart? The Browns lost 7 starters on defense alone (plus their top 2 running backs, plus they traded their best receiver, plus their starting tight end) and still beat them? Yea, it is a big Story that the Steelers crashed and burned.

And yes, I also agree, this win by the Browns is no evidence they are improving. If they were to follow up with wins vs. KC and Oakland, that might be indicative.

it is as if an asteroid hit the earth. Cleveland is a shitty team and they are known as losers.

The Steelers are a superior team and know as winners.

anyone who knows football knows the Browns did not beat Pittsburgh. We just didn't play well this season.

but the fact is the browns do not win super bowls or go to the playoffs. Steelers do.

everyone agrees the steelers just did not play well. No one is saying the Browns played great.

Browns did play great. Sacked Big Ben eight times, and your so called great pass rusher got none. Yeah, that's right. ZERO. Go home and xxxx yourself.

Based on that type of logic.... I prefer to say the Browns have had a great team since they came back in '99, but have just not played well.....but the Steelers have had a lousy team, and have played over their heads.

I think you forgot NFL championships existed, we won 8 of them and have made the playoffs 28 times (Steelers have made it 25 times)

Actually the Browns played great, Cribbs ran all over your bitch asses and sacked Gay Ben 8 times.

Actually a segment on why the Steelers lost would only appeal to loyal fans, not bandwagon fans. Bandwagoners would simply cheer on a new team and forget about the Steelers. Loyal fans would watch even if it is about a tough loss. Bandwagoners would rather watch a segment on why their new favorite team is so good.

"Sure the Steelers did a lot wrong in that game, but the Browns also did a lot right...hate to see that overlooked"

Due to rating and media hype it will always be that way. Good team bring in higher ratings than bad teams. After any big upset the media will focus on the better teams lousy performance becuase that brings in ratings. In the eyes of most, the Browns haven't moved up from being a bottom feeder and could still care less about the Browns. Although, many people beleive the Steelers have fell from the elite after this loss (and the previous 4 before it).

AAFC games do not count. The NFL does not recognize those games.

The All-America Football Conference (AAFC) was a professional American football league that challenged the established National Football League (NFL)

They merged together, so it counts on.

You mean the Steelers DID win Superbowls......it remains to be seen if they will ever do it again. So....we're using the same old excuses...."the Browns didn't beat the Steelers......the Steelers beat themselves." Whether you like it or not....the Steelers were beaten by the Browns on Thursday night. What makes it worse is that the Steelers were playing to get in the playoffs....a reason to come out and play hard. The Browns were playing for their second win.....nothing to play for. They could have easily just went through the motions....nobody would expect anything more of them. You need to look in the mirror and say to yourself......"the Browns are better than the Steelers"....accept and embrace reality. Denial and coming over here looking for our approval with your fantasy is not a healthy way to cope with your loss.

look. when you win a super bowl we will recognize you until then piss off

Too bad you didn't recognize us Thursday, Julie.

We were the ones putting Big Ben on his back.

The last time anyone in Pittsburgh went down eight times in one night was when your mom was young and she used to meet the iron ore ships down at the docks.

The better team won Thursday night.

So....you want to come over here and start crap, then can't keep up? We're not the ones looking for recognition....that would be you, and you have it. I officially recognize you as one of the dumbest Stooler fans to ever post here....and the rest of the NFL communty recognizes the Steelers as the worst team to ever try to defend the Super bowl.

You are right. The Steelers are not losers. They simply lost. You, on the other hand, are a bona fide, certified loser.

If you were a Mason, you would have achieved Loser Level No. 33. If you were playing Donkey Kong or Mario Brothers or one of those games you would be Loser of the highest level.

Congratulations on achieving King of Loser Nation.

What we can agree on is that the Steelers USED to win Super Bowls. The Browns USED to win Super Bowls too.

Now, you are gonna sit home, just like us, and the only difference is that we were expected to be bad, and you were expected to be good, but right now, the Steelers probably should be placed on like 30th position of NFL power ratings. We'll give that maybe you are better than the Bucs and Rams. Good thing the Steelers don't play them this year, they may prove to be worse even than them.
