Here is this week's survey, a 00s in review:

My own views:

1. Who in your opinion was the most dominant athlete of the decade of the 00s?

In team sports I have to consider either Kobe Bryant or Tom Brady. Since in 3 of the 4 titles won by the Lakers in the 00s had Shaq as probably the true dominant force on that team, I have to go with Brady, who was the undoubted leader of the Patriots dynasty. (Though, if you think about it, Shaq should get some run here as he too was on 4 title teams.). Stick with Brady.

In individual sports, I think Roger Federer was the creme de la creme, over Tiger.

But we have to give some love to the Olympians: For a single Olympics: Michael Phelps. For a single event: Usain Bolt

I know, that is spreading the answer around too much. Since this is a football board, I will stick with the football guy: Brady.

2. Who was the best Browns player in the 00s?

A lot of you might crow about this: Tim Couch

3. Who was the best musical artist of the 2000s?

In this category, I am going to stick with artists whose work has been primarily done in the 00s decade. (thus, even though my favorites: The Beatles, were actually the #2 best selling artists of the 2000s, their work wasn't done then..plus, I think that 2 big artists of the 00s, U2 and RHCP really relate back to earlier). I ain't a rap guy, so I ain't pickin' the Eminems or Kanye Wests or Nelly's or the like. I ain't a country guy so forget the Toby Keiths and Tim McGraws. I ain't into little tit jigglers (at least for their music) like Britney Spears.

For me, that leaves the likes of Coldplay, Daughtry, and maybe Nickelback. Perhaps I should go by one single criteria: Whose records did I buy? In that case, I gotta pick Daughtry (though I liked what I have heard of Coldplay, but I didn't buy their stuff).

4. What was the best movie of the 2000s?

Some honorable mentions: Hotel Rwanda, The Departed, The Dark Knight, Munich, Seabiscuit, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Last King of Scotland.

Recent Darkhorses: District 9, Inglorius Basterds

Runnerup: Chicago

Winner by far: The Lord of the Ring Trilogy (which in reality can be considered one 10 hour movie)

5. What was the most important historical event of the 2000s?

Second runnerup: The economic collapse

Runnerup: Election of Obama

Top event: 9/11

5. What was the most important historical event of the 2000s?

1. Michael Phelps. Though Tiger may be the more obvious choice, Phelps was the one who popped into my head first.

2. Joe Thomas

3. Amy Winehouse

4. Oh Brother Where Art Thou. I looked at a Top 100 list on line and picked out the one I'd watch the most. Runners up: Pride and Prejudice and Cast Away. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was excellent but I can't say I'd watch it again.

5. 9/11 is the "I remember where I was when it happened" event of the decade. Though I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed in how we, as a nation, responded. Not to minimize the sacrifice of those who lost their lives, but I thought our reaction should have been more along the lines of "Screw it. You'll have to do more than knock down a couple of buildings to hurt US."

Runner Up: Barack Obama's election.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was excellent

I know most feel that way. For me, I fell asleep 20 minutes in to the first movie and didn't bother with the others.

I was like that with the Star Wars movies...I went to the first, fell asleep at some point and never went to any of the others.

I guess I am just not in to sct-fi, fantasy type movies.

Roger Federer. Best tennis player ever.

Joe Thomas. 3 years, ZERO missed snaps on offense. 3 pro bowls. All-pro LT.

Jack Johnson. Wouldn't make my top 5 of all time but he is my favorite in a pretty week decade of music.

Seabiscuit. Probably my favorite movie of all-time and still not as good as the book.

9/11.

Can you imagine his lung capacity for some bong rips? Guarantee he gets higher (on weed) then anyone else in the world.

Alright I burst out laughing at work on that one

Well, considering that the only stuff you do watch Zombo is porno, WTF, of course you aren't interested in that sort of thing, right?

Re: Zoolander. I like a good comedy as well as anyone, and I liked Zoolander. But, the LOTR Trilogy is the greatest venture in film history.

LOTR is great. i can barely watch the 3rd one for some reason, but i absolutely love the first 2.

i picked zoolander solely for the reason that it is probably one of the best satires that i have ever seen and it really nails the ridiculousness of the late 90's/early 00's pop culture.
